Sweden have won it with 372 points and the UK have finished one off the bottom with 12 points......its about normal. The Balkans were closer together than ever. I have to say that when I heard what was to be the UK entry I thought it was crap! I really do think that whoever chose the song and singer should be looking at the 'Jobs' pages on Monday!!!!
To be fair, Zinglebert Bembledack is probably already on his private Lear Jet back to Las Vegas thinking "balls to 'em. I'm off to make some real money and let those losers get on with it".
crap song, crap singer, out of really surprised?
I'm slightly surprised that people still watch this.
I wonder who funds it? You'd think after all these years the UK sponsors would have cut their losses. ;)

as far as i am aware it is the BBC, which is funded by the taxpayer. arlene phillips did the choreography rotflmao:rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao: was there actually any at all?
i would presume there were other songs and artists put forward to the BBC, yet they chose a 76 year old has been. they would have been a million per cent better off getting tom jones in that case.

the only peeple that fund it are the BBC who are not answerable to anyone for how they spend OUR money. as a license payer and i am sure many other millions of license payers, would happily opt out of this total nonsense.
a total waste of money and was it really worth any of it, to be second from bottom with an artist who sang out of tune? do license payers enjoy having the piss taken out of them knowing that blimey knows how much the BBC spends getting this rubbish into our homes on a saturday evening?
i was enraged when i heard our song. the fact that the idiots who chose it could not recognise a decent song if it came up behind them, and took a great big chunk out of there over paid fat arses.

I didn't think it was that bad a tune, if it was in the right place and right time. I'm sure some old granny somewhere would buy the 'record'.
I think it was bloody stupid to enter him in this Eurovision and I think its time we pulled out of it. Its costing us shit loads and political voting means we will never get anywhere. Spend the money in better ways
Does anyone actually know how much It costs the UK each year?

well we all know that where the BBC are concerned, money holds no bounds. but to be honest mr powers i am very suspicious as those figures you wondered about are nowhere to be seen. are they hidden somewhere in the bowels of the BBC expendeture pages?
as a pure guess i would say between 3 and 5 million license payers pound notes. i as an aside, did read that the BBC were taking more peeple to the olympics, than there are british athletes. no suprises there then working for an organisation funded by others, and nothing to stop you spending what you like.

I just did a little check, it would appear we don't pay as much as you think, apparently we don't pay no more than what it cost to film an episode of holby city and. I don't think that cost 5 million an episode.
Thanks eveyone for posting so far. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Had wondered if it was me hearing what sounded it being out of tune and even coming close to shouting at one point. I hear on the news this morning that an 'enquiry' is under way! Well! That should solve everything....more people being paid to discover that it was crap to start.
Undoubtedly Eurovision has changed in the last 5 to 10 years but there is always a winner and it does stand out from the others. Last night it was Sweden.
Just a thought but nearly every time I hear a new song by Madonna I think that could be a Eurovision winner. (Not sure musically here) but there seems to a change of key that elevates from a good to better level makes it a winner. Perhaps the BBC should contact the writers of Madonna's song and engage them to write a 'winner' for next year. Then they would have to find a preferably female singer who has a good voice and doesn't sing through her nose!!!!! Come back Mary Hopkin!!!!
With the Balkan region in each other's pockets perhaps there is not much chance of winning but to be respectable top-10 would be wonderful.

apparently? have you any figures at all mr powers?
me or you do not know how much a single episode of holby costs, but with all the staff on huge wages, the production crew on huge wages and the whole filming, it dont come cheap. also remember that it is a huge hit with viewers as well. unlike the eurovision that in reality is a waste of 5 pounds of license payers money.
if you are not producing actual costs i would presume there are none in black and white. fancy sharing that link you found with regards to not costing more than an episode of holby please.

Fuck me Star, chill will yah!! I was only checking out a couple of other forums and just got a rough idea of how much It may cost the BBC to broadcast, i mean you guessed a figure of between 3 and 5 million, I mean why that figure, what have you based that on? Why not 10 to 15 million, why not 20 to 25 million and why not £370,000, about what it costs to produce an episode of Holby City
I've been thinking about our abject performances over the last few years.
We've tried dance-y stuff, pop stuff and big shouty ballads. I say next year, we should send Motorhead and have done with it.
We should have started a massive campaign to get everyone voting for Greece just to see them panic and crap themselves trying to find the funds to host it next year.

Star your a fucking wind up merchant who could make an argument out of nothing, and clearly working to rub anyone and everyone the wrong way on here.
But as you want your link, here it is

now click on the HTML in the third correspondant.
It might only be for 2009 and 2010 but it will give you an idea of what it costs now...most definately not 5 million but guess what! much closer to the cost of an episode of Holby City!

I'm now concerned that at 370+k the best we get for it is holby city or the euro vision
fuck me our licence money really is wasted

well it was not that hard then mr powers to supply a simple link, which is all i asked for.
but to get back on topic, even at that cost do peeple think that over a quarter of a million pounds is good value for something that places us second from bottom, and is an obvious bias show? i know i do but maybe other peeple may think it is good value.
what suprises me though is that the only way the BBC let license payers know the cost of things, is through the Freedom of Information Act 2000, as i could no way find those figures easily, almost as if they have something to hide.

No it wasn't that hard but as I was using my iPad, I had to go and turn my bloody PC on just so I could post you the link.
12.7 million viewers watched the Eurovision song contest in 2011. 8.5 million watched the FA cup final in the same year. Time to kick the FA cup to the curb first.

Have done with it and kick both of them ?

Don't you lot dare to try to get Eurovision banned!
I love it.
Genuinely.

Would it be too much to admit I was at a Eurovision party with home made bunting and our very own score cards to rate or slate as you watch?
OK, I'll get my coat. bolt
