i know you may think it really sad but tonight i watched the eurovision song contest to support our country u know javine n all that.
after watching all the songs i thought that Untied Kingdom had a fairly good chance.
now i know that the voting is deffo a personal attack!!!!
we had to count on ireland to bail us out or we wud be on "nil point".
i feel soooo sorry for javine and hope she isnt slated in the papers tomorrow!!!! after bloody gemini's absolutely shit song last time i thought we would have at least a chance.
its probably related to the war on iraq.........hmmmm.........i wonder  what everyone seems to forget is that we send bloody millions for the tsunami appeal!!!
it really cheese's me off.
most foreigners i think look down at us brit's...... yet we have the best army (SAS n all that), we raise money for all the other countries i.e famin etc.... we have shops all over the uk ie... scope, oxfam yet we are the bad ones for assisting the war on iraq!!!???
fair enough we went to war and some of our soilders died and i respect that but everyone seems to forget the thousands of bodies that have been dug up that died at the hands of sadam, i know, i know ive spat me dummy and im going off on one but it really pisses me off!! PROPER!!!
am i the only one who feels like this??

Glad I'm Welsh rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
But seriously, most of the european countries have it in for the english because of Mr Blair's backing of the war etc. Unfortunately it's remembered and dragged up more than the Tsunami appeal.
Take it we didnt win then?? Lol
We give up years ago its all voted based on politics........ We do feel sorry for Javine thou she is a good artist

Well what a complete waste of prime time Saturday TV that was.
Watched the first 4 –5 songs then gave up, tuned in again ¾ way through the voting and you just knew where the countries votes would go. It’s no longer got anything to do with the quality of the songs, but is all down to political voting.
What got us was when they said that the bottom 4 countries contribute the most to the Eurovision (Germany, France, UK & Spain). Just wonder how much it does cost the UK taxpayer.
Time to either disband it completely or move it to one of the satellite channels and let the adverts pay for it rather than the taxpayer

We along with some other countries backed Saddam to the hilt whilst he was our friend. Who remembers our support for him during the Iran Iraq war. I do agree that Eurovision is a complete waste of time because of the politics. I personaly wanted Germany to win but only because of the singer sillyhwoar:
`untied kingdom`.....................
about says it all!!!
What was with the Middle Eastern influence?
What was with the pseudo Ancient Greek dresses all the women were in?
What was with the percussive influences?
I loved the clothes, I love drums.
Brill night well spent!
i can't bear Eurovision - soo boring. Can't be surprised we didn't do well this year after all the political fiasco - even if Javine did ok. Watched Patriot Games instead. Harrison - hellooo....
think its about time we boycott the eurovision considering we are one of the major money contributers.....
I watched it with mell, and blody enjoied it, lol.
Levines song was ok, but just sounded like a chorus repeated and infinitum....
I wanted the Glam rock country to win, lol, or the one with the granny, hehehe
The thing I most noted was not the scoring, although there was some definate "bias" going on in the eastern block's(1) but more the fact that all these other countries that used to only play "local" music have now broken into the rock and pop era... and a hell of a lot of them sung in english, that would never have happend a few years ago!
If the uk/england (and via association the USofA) is so hated then why sing in english and have such a bias towards the UK pop and rock sounds of the 80's.
With the advent of population voting, as apposed to panel judges, is was very obvious that the bias was more towards a sound and style... and not location and "mutual friendly countries" in most cases... Had 90% of the songs charted in the UK then they would not have been overly thought of as "foreign," although perhaps a little bit dated in the UK music scene... a good few of the songs had ideas sampled from a lot of the pop/rock of the 80's uk scene as I spent a heck of a lot of the time saying "i know this from somewhere" and trying to decide what original song it sounded like... the ballard from the bigger lass had serious celion-deon undertones... the all girl rock group were a mix of freddy M when he did his ballard with the opera singer and also "Europe" (as were a lot of the 'rock' sounds) and clasical music that has been "rockified" (does anyone own a 'clasic rock' album where they took the originals and re-worked with a rock slant?)
A lot of the songs also had a huge "bollywood" sound and also irish "riverdance" feel to them and one would not have been out of place had it been a song in Chicargo! Even the rushian entry (I believe) was very much in the style of the US sound and made references to the US in a good way... my fave apart from the granny (muldavior?) and the glam rock was the "rapping" about the strugles and then freedom of one of the oppressed post soviet states.... talk about a shift in style and a total turn around in a post opressive (as we in the west saw it) country!
Its a shame that even with teliphone voting people cant vote, or not, for their own country... I wonder what the votes where for real.... I know I, mel, and a few others would not have voted for our entry in comparison to the other songs in the competition.
I do think however that every country eligible shoud be allowed to present their songs, and also that all eligible should be allowed to vote... not a sub section of songs as were shown, or only thoes presented should be allowed to vote.
It may be that i'm getting old and I cant remember things well, but I'm sure a few years back that each country would vote on every other country, not just a 1-12 with 11 missing, lol, as im sure I remember the points coming in and some countries being voted "niul powa" so every entry was scored? or is that just my failing memory?
(1) that said... is that because of the original asociation or because they all like the same styles? "rock and pop and punk" have always been the underground sound of disasociated "yoof!"

just think if we had voted for jordon. we would of won that
We switched over halfway through (Thank God!) to watch CSI New York and I have to agree after much contemplation that it is utter pants! Usually we continue to watch for two reasons;
1. Terry Wogan's merciless piss-taking of the contestants. Maybe we've done so poorly recently due to the other countries finding out that as a nation (TV commentators included), we spend the whole evening laughing at the rest of Europe?
2. The blatantly political voting that goes on.... how much can one country suck up to another? How long will it take them to realise that it's a frivolous bullshit song contest, not a good enough reason to go to war over.... rolleyes
Have a look at the results to see what I mean, a good example is Greece and Cyprus.

Maybe it's time for the UK to chuck the towel in and put the money towards some decent TV? Please?........ lol
Mr CC
How is watching it, supporting it?
If it's that bad, don't watch - always the same shite anyway. I watch the voting, because I like to listen to Terry Wogan's dry comments about the 'voting' lol
Just because it's on, doesn't mean you have to tune in - moving it to another channel won't make any difference. confused
What has this got to do with swinging?
Well we watched it all and thought it was great.
I watch it every year just to hear Terry's commentary and he never lets me down. lol
As for the voting, well as everyone knows how politically motivated it is, we must be improving as last year we had no points.
We also know that France and Germany are more disliked than us.

Did anyone else rate the German song (and not just the girl singing it)?
We actually thought it was not bad and deserved a lot more points than it received.

i agree , she was a babe too :P .
Someone up above mentioned the influence of Bollywood and Irish noises, good call. I detected a recurrent sound and style overall, espcially Greece's entry. Bollywood and Irish sounds are unique and it's wonderful that their style continues to infiltrate our fashion, design and culinery tastes.(there's a world out there, skip bangers and mash and try something different for a change). .. Latvia was pleasant, though the guys were corny, nice to see they incorporated sign language - not to be looked down upon, I 'm sure millions of hard of hearing people appreciated that. Malta reminded me of the Glasgow girl that won Pop Idol (Michelle?), good performance. Only caught the last 6 or so live perfomances, and actualy liked German's entru (mainly b/c the singer was very attractive). It was essentially a polictial playground, where countries sided up with others as if to say 'you can come play in our wendyhouse, we like you'. Greece's stay at the top slot occured as soon as Cyprus awarded Latvia (hot on it's heels at #2) one point, and Greece the full 12 points. The contest has become a farce, a rather insular and possibly volatile playground.
Re-reading my post has made me fancy some bangers, mash and loads of gravy for dinner, I'm off to the freezer to take out some skin-encased meat, lol)
C'mon peeps, it's eurovision! lol
The biggest pile of pap on the television planet and deserves the piss taken out of it. Poor Javine for getting mixed up in it all although I had no idea who the hell she was before she did this so sh'es got publicity out of it.
I laughed myself stupid all the way through and then did running commentary to my mate in the bathroom. Wogan makes it fun, you would not believe how serious other european countries take this competition!
I was in Denmark for the Junior eurovision song contest and was shepherded round to the sister in laws to watch it as a family. A bit much when they were shushing us talking when the rubbish linky bits were on!
dunno Oh well, done for another year. Bet we come last for a good few years yet!
kiss

well the book makers favorite won it 13/8 priced up by most of them
now bearing in mind about 25 entrants
there must be an element of slightly less than level playing field
i think we should with draw gracefully from something done on tactics rather than quality
mind you ..i would not have voted for Javine
If anyone needed proof that we should keep our distance from Europe its that blooming song have nothing at all with that lot and added to which they all hate us anyway (hate us...love our money)...
always the same!! Germany, France and England in the bottom 3!! i can understand zee Germans....and definatley the French, but us? WHHHHYYYY!!!!???...although our song was shite....Jordan should have done it! defo..

i disagree jordan carnt sing!!!! at least javine can sing. to be quite truthful i think if jordan had of sung then we wud of got nil poi!!!!! just coz shes got massive tits! doesnt mean she is any good vocally!!!
louxx
jordan is a bit chav and has done the rounds
javine fairly poor
we MUST be able to find better from a country of 55million plus
The girl from Cyprus had a good voice and the song was pretty good too,
I think it`s gone past it`s sell by date, and the U.K. should drop out withdraw it`s funding and make our own political statment... as now all the eastern block countries have split up and all vote for each other, I did`nt manage the full show that would have been too much.... smile :) :)
Your probably right, i thoughjt maybe she would have 'appealed' to more people!!
