Just been doing the washing up, and my other half has bought Tesco's own Lime and Ginger washing up liquid. Wow, that stuff smells gorgeous. Almost makes your mouth water!
Anyway, it got me thinking about how certain scents and smells can trigger memories. The smell of two-stroke oil takes me straight back to the late 70's when I first got into bikes, for example.
So what smells trigger particular memories for you?
Patchouli... I LOVE that smell. It reminds me of a guy I got with who at the time I thought was the most gorgeous man! Black spiky hair (imagine Robert Smiths hair from the cure) Really tall & well built, tattoos and filthy minded.... I was young and very impressed with my newly found interest in the kinkier side of sex.
As it goes he ended up being a bit freaky out of the bedroom too lol but thats another story!! rolleyes still... that smell rekindles some very, very good memories. lol

patchouli... or more specifically Karma by Lush :inlove: some very good times attached to that smell
Givenchy Very Irresistable. Used to wear it all the time when with my best mate 'intimately' but now that we're just mates again, I can't wear it anymore sad
The perfume Eternity for Women - my first 'proper' girlfriend :inlove:
A freshly mown lawn - happy summers.
Every time I smell or think of those early 80's staple aftershaves (Korous, Paco Rabanne etc) it brings a smile to my face

For Lissa,

Saved this from a bike mag years ago with the intention of it going on the wall in the garage. Never got round to it and with three bikes and all the clutter in there, there'd be no room to enjoy pics on the wall anyway!

Me too!!! Castrol R mineral oil. Gorgeous smelling stuff & the memories it brings back of Barry Sheene, Paul Smart, TZ Yam's, RG Suzuki's and KH Kawasaki's. The sights & sounds (as well as the smells) of 70's two-stroke racers. Brilliant.
Nowadays the sanitized MotoGP bikes just leave the marvellous aroma of burnt rubber from the celebratory donut!!!
The only other smell that brings back memories is the smell of bacon cooking.
Not only a gorgeous smell but it's always the breakfast smell that rekindles memories of the night before!!!
Swarfegar Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm reminds me of my dad when he used to b a mechanic. I remember (i was young!) always sniffing his hands after he'd used it....Ohhh the memories lol
Bodyshop Coconut body butter.
Reminds me of our first meet with a lady

A lady i had a holiday/long distance romance with in my youth used to scent the paper she wrote her letters on. Now i have no idea what it was i only wish i did but when i get a smell of it it take me right back to that time.
I was rather sad when we stopped and i allways think of her when i smell it and wonder where and what she is doing now.
Petrol and two stroke oil does wonders for memories of drag racing and road races in my youth.
