Well..... my lovely little baby gem of a car, my darling treasured VW polo has given up on me!
It could be something to do with the fact I have done too many miles to mention between here, leeds and chorley...... hammering it down the motorway to get there in time.... alright, ok a little late, but I got there...........
Yesterday I rang up the garage and they said we can do it tomorrow! :bounce: great I'll have it for weekend! biggrin fantastic all is not lost! :D So I cleared my boot of corsets, handcuffs, nurses dresses, knickers and teasing toys and emptied the rubbish out of my doors, I'm a happy little bunny! :D
This morning I get up at Smile to myself thinking well whatever it costs it's done then and I can still get to work this weekend and keep my plans too! :D I skip merrily to my car making sure the back door key is in my pocket for the 20th time because my house keys are in my handbag, which I forgot to pick up at weekend redface Too much excitment me thinks! surprisedops:
Anyway, I open the door sit down adjust my seat and mirror, slide the key into the ignition and....................
chuchcuchcuchcuchcuhcucuch....
Try again....
chcucuchcuhcuchuhcuchuhcuhcuh....
NOoooooooo!
Chuchcuhcuhcuhcchcu....
Arghhh! Why today? Why my car? No no no no NO!
I managed to get it to the end of the street when it cut out completely at a junction and refused to move a bit like a stubborn child. Hazard lights on and a queue of two stupid people I got out and had to push it back to the curb and kinda park it up so the neighbours don't report it or the local scallies don't burn it out
I now have to get the keys to the garage and they will come out to look at it! How do I get to the garage without my car?
So public transport it is. rolleyes I could be gone some time........
Garage has written it off  It will cost more to repair than it would to get a new one! sad Looks like the roads are a safer place for a while!

The car is in garage number two being diagnosed yet again! If it needs a new engine he can get me one for a couple of hundred quid..... :scared: eeekk! But that is kinda better than paying nearly a grand for a new one!
Anyway..... I have dug out the bicycle and I'm trying to get used to balanceing on two wheels again......... whoever said once you leanr to ride a bike you never forget was telling porky pies!

lol A VW Polo, Im not surprised its given up on you. I dont mean to sound cheeky but they are old cars!!! I suppose its done its time.
SARGE!!!
you're wanted!!
Mal
cool
Shall we organise a search party just in case?
Re-lapse it might be advisable! I can get lost while driving and even when I know where I'm going! redface
Public transport actually might be the safer option for me! lol
Hiya ! smile
New-ish to the forum and thought I'd say hello wave
Cars eh .... what are we to do without them ? banghead I'm still on this perenial process of looking for a car that cheap to maintain, that'll last a good 10 years and able to burn up n down the motorways. Anybody any suggestions ?
Hi teddybear wave
Well, my VW polo is 12years old and has taken a right hammering from my driving! I've been mainly motorway driving this last few months, mainly transpenine :scared:
Just ask Neil, Dundeecpl, EngleDansk or Judy how scary it is being in a car with me behind the wheel! redface
hello biggrin
It's 12 years old eh ... u know, it maybe time to let it go soon. Come to think of it , I've never had a car that lasted .... wait a sec .. I do ! .. Just ignore me , me brain neurones are working well today ... needs abit of that WD 40 !
VW polos are steady beasts aren't they. Just not very happy when it's not well.
:
I think it needs a new battery rolleyes and exhaust  and something else quite essential! lol and it will cos tmore to fix than it is actually worth most likely!
Oh well......... wish me luck... I'm going out!
You can buy my car if you want Gem, its a VW Golf lol
Well , wish me luck. I've got a 2-3 hour ( i hope!) trek today towards oxford. I was doing the same trip on monday and it took me 5 bloody hours .... each way ! Left home at 7am and got back at 2300. i've gotta save money to buy a helicopter cool

Thanks devil!
I've made it back! I fished my bike out of the shed to find the front tyre had perished! confused so I rode it anyway rolleyes
Stopped off by my gran's for a half way mark cup of tea and biccies, then went and gave the mechanic my car keys. It's looking very likely that it wont be ready anytime before weekend by the look on his face. :? evil
The service alone will be £110 before they have fixed the thing that is wrong with it! I'm sure it would only fetch 200 if I sold it! Oh well.......
Ever the optimist... I called in the bike shop and bought a new tyre!
So........ can anyone give me any advice of fitting a new tyre to a bike? Who said I was a modern independant woman??? :?

It dosen't help other people trying to drive into the side of you lol
What a shame for the little car the trip back to manchester after the party was just tooo much (there were too many toys in the case) and the people were too kinky for it to cope.
Hope you get it fixed.

Anybody any suggestions ?

German, 2-3 litre. 3000 revs at 80mph. They just dont stop.
I hate to be Nell of Doom, but a 10 year old Polo (or Golf) will be trouble. Ze Chermans had just got too tricky with electrical systems (wires, solder, moving parts) and hadnt quite perfected more reliable electronic systems, so...
hang about...
did I log onto CarChat in error?

Sooooo true! I can't believe that woman just pulled out like she did! Lucky she didn't hit us! :scared:
I think you are right about too many toys and the kinky people. It should have been lined with pink fur and called the "kinkmobile" or something equally as corny!.... then again....... maybe not! I don't think it's big enough to have two people being kinky in it let alone four!

Women tut is it petrol that is the missing essential
confused :? :? rob7........... :? :? :? petrol it has! smackbottom
I think I'll take it as a hint to get fit and healthy for my graduation next year.... if I get through the conversation with my tutor this afternoon that is! :scared:

Seriously tho at the age it is its about ready for being pensioned off..
My dear old jallopy is 10 years old now and is just a dream to drive, nippy, good on petrol and been a brilliant roomy family car. Shes not long clocked 100K and more recently i have been banging her up and down the M1/M6 for the past 18 months. Shes a Vauxhall Cavalier club, and i dread the day she decides enough is enough
aw poor gem! :therethere:
what you wanna do, is by an old sewing maching, rip out the engine and stick the sewing machine in. get some big rubber bands to go round the wheelie thing onto the other wheelie thing that makes the wheels turn, and wire the foot pedal in to where the accelerator pedal is now. hey presto . . . it'll be twice as fast as it is now! biggrin you'll need a few car batteries in the boot for the singer, so less room for the toys and kinky outfits and assorted suitcases etc, but it'll be a lot cheaper than a new car! ;)
hope this helps! :P
n x x x ;)
I really thrash my poor old thing. Its nearly 10 years old and the odometer is about to go back to zero. At least if breaks down I have my motorbike to play with.

Reminds me of that little trip up Dewsbury hill! lol Sounded like it was made from an old singer and a few rubber bands! :D
Oh and all that whipping at weekend and riding bikes does not go well. I am sooo saddle sore I feel like I've done 10rounds with Satin and the whip!

I'm hoping my Pug 106 keeps going a bit longer, as it is also 12 yr old. Been great for the past few years, but the garage boss makes negative comments about the car's value every time they charge me for servicing, so it time for it to go. Just hoping to be able to replace it by about March (in time for the Scottish Munch..... wishful thinking!). I desperately need it to practice in until then, coz I'm training to be a driving instructor  confused . Hope it keeps going without any accidents!!!
Oh well, fingers cross for you hun, at the very least make sure the rear demister is working, will keep yr hands warm when pushing her! rolleyes

But on the other hand Gem could rig up her toys to the batteries for extra power wink

Not at all! Unless you want to buy the marketing crap the car makers (and the government on their behalf) feed you. Considering the age of my car, 12 years is nothing smile
Even newer cars break down, and they cost more to fix, more to buy, etc.
A bit of basic DIY maintenance and knowledge ought to keep most bangers going for years to come, and a friendly old style garage helps with the tricky bits :)

Eh. confused :? .... it's still a current model (admittedly not the same shape as Gems, but still a current model)

Mine's 12, an astra. Looks rough as a bears arse, but has been starting first time every morning while it's been cold (more than can be said for the guy up the roads 2 year old BMW... :giggle:  )
