Well what a start to the season, they have got rid of most of the driver aids like traction control and now they have to drive for themselves.
Ok so Ferrari are favorites ie: Raikonen, and he has technical problems so has to start 15th on the grid with yes Hamilton on pole.
So who drives a faultless race with no drama from start to finish to win..... Hamilton of course.
Raikonen went of the track 2 times when he lost control of his car and all were totally his fault no mechanical failure what so ever, so whos the best driver now, only time will tell.
Raikonen did not finish in the end because of mechanical failure but this taking away the driver aids seems to have thrown up a whole new dimension to racing, bit like it was in the 80's then really.
Roll on Malaysia 23rd March
you have sparked my interest, I gave up on F1 when it became dull dull dull.
I shall check out todays race.
Thanks
This race was far from dull and I can fully understand where you coming from in that respect. I have been watching it since I was 9yr and seen some fantastic racing, todays race was maybe not as good as some in the past but the ingredients seem to be there this year for the first time in ages.
Most importantly no gizmos to help just a well designed car and driver skill, its too early to tell yet but lets see.
I particularly enjoyed Coulthard's comment about Massa when asked if Massa should take responsibility for their accident..
"If he doesn't I'll kick 3 colours of shit out the bastard" :lol2:

Cant remember myself but its not exactly the first time a Ferrari drive decided he owned the road and would go though no matter the consequnces, as long as it was in his favour of course wink

To be fair I think DC was in the wrong this time as Massa was over half way alongside DC him when he turned in on him...

It is a very fine line I will admit and could be taken both ways, but up until that time DC had driven a perfect clean race, Massa had already taken a trip into the greenery so would be inclined to think Massa was going in a bit hot.
Even Martin Brundle thought Massa wasnt at fault and DC is his love child (or so you would think the way he goes on about him :lol2: )
VROOOOOOOOOOOM VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOM and there off into the first corner ...and OH MY GOD there has been a crash.......
oh yes and Lewis Hamilton has won the first race of the season
I know nothing about the subject, and am best suited (Harry-Enfield like) to talk of fluffy kittens.
I just wanted to pop in here & flash my pants at the lads :smug:

If I remember correctly, Mr Coulthard had had a couple of run-ins and scrapes with more than one driver... he was obviously slightly emotionally aroused by the time a mic was offered him to vent spleen...
Of course, edit was tactfully employed to save the ears of the general public...
But I'm sure I heard him scream as he appraoched the interviewer;
"no-body move or I'll Kill Every Last Mother-Fucking One of You!"
Yup, I'm pretty sure that's what he said
lp
i thought the race was brilliant and the new changes made it exciting biggrin

I can still recall a similar gaff with James Hunt years ago after he crashed his car. As he walked back to the pits, he was approached by an interviewer and his first comment on camera was "Give me a fucking cigarette" Brilliant!!
Hopefully we will now get back to excitement and decent thrills and spills. You have to be impressed with the safety measures though. All those accidents and not so much as a cut finger
anyone joining me in Malaysia tomorrow morning?
lp
I have heard they are running last year's ecu in malaysia, traction control and engine braking etc.
Mind you if it is a wet race should be interesting nonetheless
anyone up & watching?
lp
Hi Lp wave
Up and watching here, 38 laps to go! lol
Hamilton needs to do a little housework on his car eh?
very dusty around the wheels!
lp
'dust' I think that is an understatement!! lol
Another exciting race :bounce: did you see coultard, Alonso and Heidfeld 3 abreast racing down the straight.
Massa spinning out but he dont know what caused it rolleyes lack of driver aids possible :haha: unlucky to Hamilton but a great faultless drive to Raikonen, this season looks to be a lot of fun.
Ok they are off and racing.........
:bounce:
And the 'messiah' Hamilton is beginning to show his true form. Not quite as good as cracked up to be methinks.....

Yeah, but it was bound to be the car! :giggle:
I had to avoid catching any of that race whilst at work... I was recording the whole thing so that I could enjoy in the (splutter) comfort of home.
The race showed a lot of potential at times for being very exciting... though never quite reached critical mass did it?
still enjoyable though.
(dons blindfold and prepares to be shot)
Now, I don't know what it is, but I just can't seem to get behind Mr Hamilton... can't fathom a reason at all... just don't like the fella. Even if he is supposed to be the saviour of British GP. sorry.
I have trouble all round liking/supporting any particular driver or team. Too many variables in what are really quite small units.
There are certain drivers that I like... for thier style, character, spirit etc... though they may be driving for a team that I simply cannot support.
Or there might be a good (british?) team, but one driver, or the owner/manager/lolipop-man may be such a twerp that ... well.. you get the picture.
I do like a driver with a bit of spirit though, not such an automaton, kmow what I mean?
