We thought we should warn the unaware that there are at least a few fake adverts in the Photo Ads section - Women seeking Couples (may or may not be true for other sections).
For example, we have emailed one person with a brand new email address that has not been used for anyone else, nor has it been posted anywhere on the net. Yet we have recived a substantial amount of spam since sending the email, the first of which was only six hourse since sending the original mail.
We would have preferred to use this websites system email, however, the user had chosen not to hide their email address and therefor we had no choice but to email the user direct from a newly created 'fresh' email address.
We for one (well, two) will be extremely cautious from now on when responding to ads which do not use the systems 'hidden' email facility.
Hope this is of use.

You should report the user to the Mods. That's (one of the reasons) why they're there.
Never really occurred to us to use the "hidden e-mail" system on our own advert ....... Haven't had any great prob with spam either ..... Are we just lucky?

Maybe!
We're sure the majority of people not using the websites email system are genuine, so its a shame one or two have to spoil things, but it may be an idea to start using it. This way, hopefully, it may only be a matter of time before we weed out the spammers.

I dont know about anyone else but I have noticed that you do develop a 'feel' for the fakes.
I always report them if I think they are fakes and I always leave my email on the reporting form - I am more than happy to report fakes openly.
In fact I think there should be a leader board for successfull reporting of fakes....!!! wink

Dare I ask... which ones do you think are fake? Although I understand if you don't want to risk offending anyone by naming THEIR advertisement

I dont think that would be a good idea to be honest. I will however PM you the ad. i.d. of one we are 110% sure about.
We used to get a report of the action taken by the moderators regarding the ads.
Dont seem to get them anymore.
Maybe we just keep reporting real ones...!!!!

We reported it yesterday but no reply as yet.

So many time wasters out there. Had few emails from women saying, "come and chat to me in here as i dont have MSN messenger" then directing me to another swinging site with a chatroom where you have to pay to email anyone!! No Thanks!!
Also currently talking to a 'female' who's ad said they wanted to meet, but seems she doesnt mind sending millions of pics to us, but in the end just want to see us on cam. Whats the probability the pics are not of her?!!
ho hum, onwards and upwards lol
SarahNickLondon... if you reported a fake as yesterday it will have been dealt with. I have checked our mail box and everything from yesterday is cleared and has been dealt with. Are you expecting a response from us?
U se the hidden e-mail facility here - didn't when I first reistered but then started getting loads of randome people trying to add me on msn
That really pisses me off
Thing is though, twice guys have said they have sent me a pic via the site and I've not got them - odd or are the guys telling fibs?
I believe that inside every fake ad there is a real ad trying to get out.
Maybe we should do more to encourage them and make them feel more at ease.
If we all pull together and help the fake ads become real then - surely it will be for the good of all. wink

Hi.
No, we ddint particularly need a reply. We just left an email addy for you in case you wanted to contact us at all.
Thanks smile
its part of life now isnt it sad as it is, people (bored sad or poisonous) will use a free site for their own financial gain or advertising other pay sites. i have a very effective spamkiller and it deals with 30plus spams a day. personnally these sick fukks should be smothered in honey and brazillian killer wasps set on their private parts then ,south american yaks set on them to lick it off head to foot. I HATE THE BASTARD SPAMMMERS AND PEOPLE WHO TRY TO SEND ME VIRUSES ? DEATH TO YOU.
I agree!! Hi and welcome to the site though you two!!!!!!
I am a newby here but since I joined I have received several e-mailes from single femails which direct me to another site so I can E-mail them. It appears to be the same where prostitutes advertise........and of course you have to pay. NO THANKS
If I get some more I will report their adverts .......
I have a very good spam stopper via BTyahoo, where I receive over 30-40 e-mails mostly from USA. Despite that now I receive a few more directly to my non public address.

Thank very much you two :)
Was in your Ikea last Thursday :P
There are a lot of different viruses out there and sometime people don't know they have it. So iIf you send an email to a computer already infested by a virus, it can take your email and use it to send spam. The person you are sending the email could be in good faith, don't you think?
Sometime, it can happen that your email is parked on a server for a while and this server is scanned by hackers and they simply take your email and start to send spam.... they are to blame... not the sender.
Hmmm....Can see where youre coming from, but its a very complicated assumption.
We see the solution as simple: use the secret email function smile
We've now had 15 ,yes 15, spam emails since replying to one ad. (but no genuine reply) The address will be delted later.
Thanks.

The reason you don't get an action report is that now there are SO many of the wretched things that we just don't have time - unless the report is a very serious one about illegal activity or such like.
We do appreciate every report though and always act when necessary. Remember, we all have ordinary jobs and do all this modding in our spare time - like some unearthly hour in the dark morning!!
:P
it's of course a good move to report suspect ads to the mods - and i know (because my lady is one of the mods) that they do follow up on reports very quickly and thoroughly -
i gather that it sometimes the mods are snowed under with their own lives (like when there's a big munch going on and it can be a wee while before reports get looked into
if you want to know the outcome of your reprt then tick the box in the report window
regards to all
terry
We do try - but if the report is simply 'wrong category' then there is no point in replying to the reporter.. we simply delete (or move) the offending ad.
Please - when reporting ads in the wrong category don't abuse the Mods! We still get stuff along the lines of 'why are you allowing this tosser to post in the wrong category', ' do your bloody job and get rid' and worse
Oh, and don't respond to us with dripping sarcasm and threats either - neither are impressive or effective!!! :P :P We once had a guy who said he was a policeman and he was going to 'make trouble' for the site cos we banned him for scamming!! Laugh? Nearly fell over on that one.
Or the guy who was posting seriously dodgy ads with a heavy hint of illegal activities.. he threatened to show our emails to his company solicitor
Still, cheers up the dark dull mornings. lol
good point Jags
the mods do come in for a bit of stick from the jokers who use this site, so pleeeeeeeease, genuine users, give em a break and don't be like the example Jags gave
of a gen user
remember the mods are unpaid volunteers and give up scads of time to keep this the best swing site of all - and it free, remember
and if some of em are a bit sharp-edged at times, then that's just like real life, isn't it
regards
tkh
(hmm, looks like the above is a bit of a 'crawl' - ah well it might pay off in pampering from my loevely lady Heather - hint, hint)
most of it now comes out of china, its damn right fucking annoying and an invasion of privacy, these people are scum and deserve a slow panfull love to meet one in the flesh i really would, evil wankers.
I know this is more about e-mails but last week I started (or rather my daughter started!) to get really adult texts from some 83188 number. Now this is a relatively new phone and theres only one place these messages may have came from is a site called jamster which she signed up to for ringtones so I thought its probably from them or more likely some third party company they are associated.
I woldnt have bothered so much but I dont think my ten year old needs lessons on how to perform oral sex or masturbate her partner just yet and If i want her to know anything about sex Id rather it came from me.
But then I was talking to a friend who had a similar problem it was then I found out each of these messages cost approx for the user and he had also complained to his phone company etc who told him that apparently companies who send these texts buy bulk lists of phone numbers (I had heard of buyign bulk e-mail addressess for spamming!) and apparently theres nothing the telephone companies/regulators can do about this!!
Personally I think thats bullshit if the phone regulators cant do something the fucking mobiel phone companies should evena block facility to block incoming texts from numbers like these!!
Anybody else had this problem!?? confused
i have and i dont know how the hell thay get your number, well i do really, a member of staff at say vodafone sell your details even though its has a price.
exactly!! no surprise its the fucking vodaphone network shes on terrible wean cant even use her own phone now!!
