Aged 40, I've finally been invited to a fancy dress party. biggrin I'm looking for any unique ideas for costumes that you guys have dressed as before, cheap cheerful and home made would be best. Also does anyone know roughly, how much it is to hire an outfit?
Its fun, get to a costume hire place and find something that is comfortable but not to 'daft'. Until you are experienced avoid wings, wands and haloes. lol
The last time I hired a costume was about 6 yrs ago and it cost me 50 smackaroonies!
You could go down the pirate theme and that might me easy to rustle up at home xx

Fifty fooking quid!!!
I could always just wear my suit and go as a chauffer, like Trigger in Only fools and horses
Tarts and vicars
Doctors and nurses
School days
Glitter / shimmer
Cowboy / Girls
Rockyhorror
Try googling fancy dress shops and find some in your local area.
Good luck and have fun
No idea of whether you have hair or not but if u do a good and cheap one to do is a punk. rip, cut, slice and pin some old clothes, mohawk your hair.
Or
wear boxers and nothing else, when asked you just tell them you are at the party as a premature ejaculation......you have cum in your pants!
sorry, an oldie I know but I couldnt resist.
Have fun

Ebay sometimes has some fancy dress bargains though usually through private sellers instead of the shops.
Is there a theme to the party?
If not, try something 60s or 70s, copy a tv programme, scour the charity shops for some real old and out of fashion stuff.
Have fun
I'm no seammistress so home made costumes were always a problem. But I have found that the disposable boiler suits are very useful. They don't fray. You can paint them. They do provide a good base for a creative mind.
i go as a football holigan, i do such a good job of it ;)

Yes Ebay is excellant idea! I got some hallowe'en stuff from there and it was fab!
Thanks for the ideas all, I may go as "The only gay in the village" (although I'm not) for the comedy value. Getting the outfit could be tricky though redface

nah, just get some blue material, make a top out of it, put a cushion in it (to enhance the belly), wrap yourself in cling film and you have his outfit!
Oooh and don't forget the teeny tiny spangle shorts! mmm nice! rolleyes
