He 'covered' it, himself, without the verse about girls pushing prams.

Hmmm.... nope , sorry Vix + teppic ..
wrong.
A new England was on Spy Versus Spy which was issued in 1983.. a good few years before Kirsty covered it... and she wrote the extra verse and Billy Bragg thought it added to the song...
Now off to Google the proof! Grrrrr lol
