I found some pics of my favourite place that my brother took. It's somewhere I used to walk Monty and before him the pub dog. I love it there. It's so beautiful and utterly peaceful. I'm reflecting a little today and thought I'd share! biggrin

Where's your favourite place?

There ya go biggrin

daytona international speedway.
from the dreams of racing on the beach this place was fast nascar limits the horsepower of the cars and forces them to run in tight packs known as the draft.
Legends have won and died here at this rewarding and unforgiving home of speed.
on the day of the daytona 500 you arrive early to take in the surroundings, listen to the cars being started in the pits and watch for the drivers as they make there way through the crowds.
Thousands of motor homes on the infield fans everywhere and all the time the tension builds.
The national anthem and stealth fighters flying overhead on que to the words 'and the land of the free' you can really feel it in the air.
the cars move out onto the track behind the pace car in 2 large groups and the p.a gives the driver run down.
You feel the noise from your feet to your heart as the thunder slowly rolls by and the fans wave to there favorite driver.
Then the field gets together, the pace car moves lower on the track and 43 drivers put the foot to the floor and over 100,000 people come to their feet.
its only on the 3 lap even the cars are at full speed you feel the blast as the whole field passes by in just over a cars travelling at 200 mph bunched closer than your tescos car park at christmas.
over 4 hours of high speed thrills and big crashes there is nothing like it.
Dale Earnhardt won more races here than any other driver in history and in 2001 he also died here.
When nascar lost its greatest driver everything i still remember him walking down the pit lane and everyone standing and cheering.
and thats why i think this is the greatest place on earth.
because Earnhardt proved from having nothing you could do anything and be the best.
the american dream.
My favourite place is a spot on a thingy that moves...so the view changes. I've been known to spend hours there, in the freezing cold & howling winds wrapped up in a blanket in the dead of night enjoying the sounds. The creaking of the timbers...the clink of blocks on the ratlings...
This is the view from my spot.
