I love words, I religiously do the Telegraph crossword every day.... anyone got any favourite words? And as rude as you like if you wish.... it's a bit of fun!
A few euphonic ones to roll over the tongue...
lugubrious
pantherine
heliotrope
fandangle
ubiquitous
gangly
kumquat
Some flirty ones....
Callipygian (having beautiful or elegantly shaped buttocks)
apodyopsis (act of mentally undressing someone)
colpocoquette (woman who knows she has an attractive bosom and makes good use of its allure)
I also like oxymorons... new ones gratefully received (cue deafening silence...)
Dolly (logophile)
cool
I like onomatopeaic words like gobble, slap and flip-flop - I'm childish that way.
I 've always like plethora. And effervescent. Allegorical.
I'll be back.

:P Wow beauty and brains Dolly!
I think it's a great pity we devalue words like suberb an nice, which in context actually say much.
Love the sound of pragmatic, sycophant, and syntax.
My very favorite word however is "snookums" and I must say that whereas i really believe it would be "nice" to snuggle into them,it has to be said.....yours are 'superb'!!!!!!!!!!! sillyhwoar:

I loved the Jabberwocky as a kid.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Perfectly understandable when you have a brain like ours Dolly lol
As for palindromes, you can't beat "redivider"!
Love these unfamiliar words - shapely buttocks? Why, that's me!
Good words: "haeccity" (this-ness), "paniety" (being bread), myrmecoid (ant-like) and a useful word for when you're discussing creepy-crawlies and don't need people telling you that spiders aren't insects, "arthropod" (having segmented legs).
Definitions are vague by the way, especially that last one.
Alan Coren once wrote a story about how a new poem was needed in a hurry for "Through The Looking Glass" but the publishers didn't have time to proof-read it:
T'was chilly and the slimy roads
Did shine and shimer in the rain
All misty were the bird's abodes
And the cold grassy plain
Beware of January, my son!

I love words too! Always trying to learn new ones. But words and I have a very strange relationship. Due to a brain defect (yeah like you never guessed!) I suffer from a condition call Synaesthesia. Basically my grey matter is wired incorrectly and when I hear or see a word I also experience a sensation.
It's hard for me to explain! For instance if somebody asked you to think of what it would be like to walk bare-foot over a ploughed field that had dried in the sun…. that's what I actually feel when I think of the name of the village I live in. Or if somebody says Bristol, the sensation I have is when you let fat cool down in a baking tray and it goes hard - imagine sticking your fingers in it!
Some words are unpleasant to read or hear but others are nice, every word has it’s own different sensation that remains the same.
I’m actually on a daily medication to stop me experiencing sensory overload!
I love the word pants......gawd knows why, but it always brings a smile to my face.
Also love the word moist... conjures up all sorts of images..... biggrin
My two best words are :-

I'm fascinated by Synaesthesia, I don't have any strong effects of it like tasting words but I often 'feel' colours... sometimes I get a really strong reaction from a colour... either very painful or pleasureable and can sometimes just keep gazing at a patch of colour because it's a comforting sensation (? bizarre!). I work as an artist so I get constant stimulation lol
Anal sex at noon taxes Lana
