I hope this thread will help a few folk out there that I know use the Firefox browser as oppose to IE, so here go's...
Problems have been identified with the browser that users will unwittingly download malicous files ie expose yourselves to phishing attacks, as in hackers can rediret users to differant sites that contain spyware or viruses, abit like a Trojan (i think im correct in saying).
There is no patch as yet available as Firefox is only used by a small part of the internet surfers, so please if your a firefox user only download from trusted sites.
Secondly concerns the Mozilla browser version 1.7.3 or earlier when used with Usenet messages....these start with news:// rather than http:// . This flaw can allow hackers to run programmes on your beloved PC also.
Having read earlier threads ie messenger virus there are some real nasties out there if your not careful. Ive stressed before in other threads that it is of upmost importance to keep everything up to date as in your anti-virus software and firewalls (just run 1 firewall at a time as this causes conflicts and they arent worth the disc there written on) and keep up to date with latest versions also.
Hope this helps in some way, shape or form but the threads have always got some poor bugger thats been caught out.
well i am using firefox myself, but as i d/l only from trusted sites (obviously as I use Firefox Microsofts site aint in the trusted zone) I dont have many problems, besides, hardware firewall, software firewall, adaware and spybot plus NAV04, its suprising that anything gets in even if I want it to smile
Im not teaching anyone to suck eggs but judging by the amount of people having snags heres the evidence!!!!

only trying to help....
wink :wink: :wink:

the above link lists all current bugs in the current firefox, if you have the final release then the one you mentioned was fixed. from a look at the list of current ones on the final code, they all require user error to be achieved biggrin
good to see you looking out for us all btw! I just assumed it was fine, although my system shant be gotten!

Well that's what I've heard confused
lol wink
It's quite interesting when you compare the Secunia advisories for Firefox and IE next to each other...
Firefox = 6 advisories
IE = 76 advisories including 2 critical ones from 2003 that have yet to be fixed.
Hmmm, think I'll stick with Firefox... biggrin
