Here goes. As some of you will have seen, it is my birthday today and I can almost say for sure that it has been the best birthday of my life.
Db and I went to La Chambre last night. It is the first club either of us have ever been to so we were both quite nervous, not knowing what to expect and all that.
...
When we (I) finally plucked up the courage, we went for a walk (and look) round. Time passed very quickly and before we knew it, it was 1:45am - my birthday :bounce:
I decided that I would like to go for a play on the 'swingy thing' so went down to the dungeon. Without even thinking about it, i was in the swingy thing, my skirt up around my waist, the heels of my long boots wedged against the chains absolutely gagging for it.
Not feeling totally comfortable, I proceeded to strip off almost completely, just leaving on my hold-ups and knee length boots, then we were away!!!!!!!!!!!! Other people were coming in and out of the room and I found this such a turn on. I then went in to 'my own little world' and just enjoyed.
So, for the first day of year 29, I was in a swingers club, naked, having sex in public. Do I want to go again - too right I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My apologies for rambling on like this but I had such a wonderful time that I needed to share it! Thanks for listening/reading kiss

Wish I could have been there CarrieAnn sad Glad you had a good time, it's definitely one of the better clubs around, very friendly staff and membership and I really like the layout, the jacuzzi can be quite relaxing too. I've been there a few times now though driving up from London after work on a Friday can be pretty tiring ... I can't go to the Saturday events though as I've not found a swing partner yet redface

CarrieAnn .... Thanks for your note
GF and I are veering towards a club, especially a large one like La Chambre, as much as anything else, because if we do not feel too comfortable, it is rather more anonymous than say a small(ish) house party.
Saturdays are a particular prob for us .... well for me really, as i am married, but not, as you will have gathered, to gf ...... Hardly a rare situation, but not so easy to be away on biz at w/e! ........ which takes us back to "Any suggestions for good mid-week locations?"

Hi Crosspatch,
There's Club Arousal in Dunstable which is pretty good and probably within relatively easy reach of yourselves. They do a mix of events on Fridays and Saturdays. I personally find the Saturdays to be better attended and they also open up the Dungeon area which has a number of other rooms off it . The staff there are pretty friendly too.

If the rafters were strong enough............I'd get a swing for our bedroom. wink

Trust me - a standard ceiling joist can easily carry the weight of two people in a swing (even in the middle of a joist). It can also take the weight of one person in the swing and three people hanging on but not putting all their weight on it.
We always end up with a few flakes of plaster o the floor - but nothing a good hoover cannot sort.
Ours has been in use for about 8 months now and we have had no problems.
Hope it helps!
Fred
Go on - get one!
My tuppny worth.
La-chambra is probably one of the best and most relaxed clubs to go to... especially as a single woman or a single guy or a first time couple as down stairs it is more like a night club.
As a couple that already wants to explore multiple people, then I would choose chamelions or partners as good clubs to go to.
If you are a couple or a single and want to have good health facilities (sauna, jacozie, steam room etc.) and the potential of sexual fun, then chams, partners and rios.
The reason is they all seem to be very relaxed, and also have seemingly good control over single male aplicants.
As a now single male, the only gripe I have over any club in general is the "members" joining fee and the price diferental between sexes.
I know i'm biased at the moment... but surely if the clubs are really "swingers" clubs then one sex should not subsidise the other... the only club entrance wise that does seem to be less bias (last leaflet worth) is la-chambra as it charges single females...
I find it distastefull that women can be "free" and men have to pay 50 membership and upwards of 20 to get in... Its very sexist (year I know about numbers...) but surely if a woman wants to get her rocks off, then she should be charged as much as a guy wanting to get her rocks off... else it starts to lean towards leagal prostitution!
the sub reading from some of the prices is.... "hello darling come here for nothing... but you'll have to shag the blokes cos they paid and you didnt..." The same with some couples prices.... it works in some clubs because the couples are looking for GB's But if swinging is ment to be equal, then keep the prices even, but filter the wankers (wanna shags) from the genuine!
I've yet to see a club with a price parity... which does sugest that men pay and women/couples are profit makers.

I sort of agree with what you're saying here though in reality it isn't really unique to Swinging/Fetish clubs ... we often see the same sort of policy applied to normal bars and nightclubs and I think it's just a fact of life. After all, who wants to be in a club full of blokes??? One way to address the imbalance and encourage more women and couples to attend is to have this price disparity - a necessary evil unfortunately.
Anyway, I found it interesting reading about CarrieAnn's first experience lol It always is a nervous time going to a club for the first time.

Fetish and BDSM clubs rarely charge different prices for singles of either sex, they do however tend to do a 2 for 1 or a discount for "groups/couples"
As for numbers... that can be dealt with by selective acceptance and limiting numbers... night clubs often turn away groups of males, or males in general if the club numbers seem to be biased towards a large number of males to reduce the potential of trouble; although some clubs are now having the reverse problem with groups of women "on the hunt" and are also saying that on the whole women are now tending to cause more problems than the guys ever did and are far quicker off the mark to start trouble even if it doesnt always hit the levels that guys can reach as quickly.
Non-member clubs are not leagaly allowed to charge disparit prices, they can do so if they wish.. but most past cases where someone has taken action have found against the clubs... even the old "discounts" instead of different prices for women is now being seen as against the ethos of the sexual (and general) equality laws.
Member clubs still have a greater lee way, although "discrimination" through sex and disability is being (should have been!!!!) phased out from this year to about 2-4 years time depending on how authorities "read" the legislation... by 2006-8 the theory is no discrimination is allowed and also that all "public" (including member only clubs) places should have no excuse for discriminating... that said... I'm sure there will be plenty of loop holes after all "one wouldnt want women in the most famous club in london... just not cricket old boy" lol.
The only thing I will say is that in some cases the new law could actually end up closing places (and this is where I think there will be a huge loop hole) because the "public" place cannot modify access to accept disabled people... or the cost is prohibitave, the problem is this loop hole will probably still be exploited to also allow a price diferential in "members clubs." over the sex of an applicant.
If you look at the flip side... if a club was to refuse women or discriminate against then... it wouldnt be long before a legal case was brought against the club, like wise if a club refused anyone with a disability they would end up with a court case and people preasure would be against the club... but just because its swinging its ok to for clubs to discriminate against anyone they feel like, more often on a whim... I know one club that refused to allow a good friend of mine access because she needs help up and down steps and a male friend who was refused "because a disabled person might up-set others if they see someone in a wheel chair in a swingers club!"
Discrimination is discrimination... no matter why or who! If its acceptable to discriminate on sex, then its acceptable to discriminate on age, size, race, disability, creed, religious preference, dick size, number of children, and so on!

We started swinging over three years ago. The usual thing...it was the man's idea to go to a club and the wife took some persuading!
Our first club was La Chambre in Sheffield. M said she would go to watch and NOT join in! It seemed a good compromise to get her there!
The place was amazingly relaxed and we soon got chatting to loads of other couples.
By the time we went home, she'd had sex with two guys! (her first extra-marital cock!)
It was M who suggested going back a couple of weeks later and that night she was well into it!

 and we have STILL not had to explain to my mother what the bolt is for in the bedroom ceiling!!!!!! rolleyes

get a boxing pillow, perfect excuse for a hook in the bedroom ceiling!
Works for us!
That is the most heartening and instructive column I have read on this site.
It has given me not only an insight to what goes on in these clubs, but also how someone has enjoyed themselves. Thanks CarrieAnne.
As a single male, I have been put off previously by the thought of such places being ratherdowdy and shady, much like the strip clubs/pubs of old, but now I'm prepared to stump up my hard earned and give it a try.
The problem is, that as your correspondent pointed out, the high charge of admittance for single men, tends to suggest men will only pay if they feel there is a good chance of them 'getting their end away', as it would make it a very expensive place to go for a drink and a chat, or even just to make new friends.
I suppose my best bet would be to wait until I happen upon a nice lady who likes the idea of exploring our local place of amenities!
Can anyone tell me it the club in Sheffield has introduction nights, or evenings where potential new members can visit for a look round, without feeling as if they are fish out of water? redface

Hi Keith,
I'm just having a look throught the 'Agenda' as so far as I can see, there is only one couples night per week and that is Saturday night.
If you go to the Clubs and Parties tab at the top of this page and then click on the reviews for La Chambre, there is a link to their web site were you can view the 'Agenda' on line. There are also photos of the inside of the club and details of membership.
As for feeling 'like a fish out of water' - you won't!!! The atmosphere is so relaxed and you will soon get in to the 'swing' of things. For your first visit to the club, you could go on one of the themed nights, it might be a good ice breaker for you. Hope this helps a little.
