Nothing to do with swinging but just thought I'd post about my last few days.
As some of you may know I'm in Italy at present for work.
I'm staying in a little village outside of Venice and for the past two days and nights it's been raining continuously.
The main thouroghfare thrrough the village has flooded and the main road in and out looks more like a river than a road, so much so that you cannot tell where the road ends and the pavement or ditch begins. I am stranded as cars are unable to get in or out the village or the ones that try do so at their own peril as it's very easy to get water in the engine and the car stops . There are abandonded cars all over town.
It's possible to wade out but you need fisherman type boots.
On top of that the house where I'm staying has a flooded cellar and to lend a hand I've spent all morning scooping up the water which just keeps trickling in from the wallls and pavement. It's a nightmare. Furniture has had to be moved upstairs away from peril and the damp
At the back of the house their is a large corn field which is completly sommersed under water. It looks like an Indonesian rice field or somting out of a scene of Apocalypse Now.
Lucliky the rain has stopped and the sun is shining today and hopefully it will stay that way enough for everything to dry out.
In the meantime it's back to the buckets and the mop
This is Veneziano. In rain swept Northern Italy. So you dont have to be.

come to think of it, venazio, you haven't turned left at Rome instead of right, and ended up in Venice?
italy is turning into venice slowly - as well as the rest of europe sinking slowly into the seas...
alright for you - you should try and be in wales when its raining well gloomy !!

Pedantic , I know, but Italy cannot turn into Venice, as Italy is already part of Venice.
Just thought I'd point that out. Why do I feel a prat now for telling you that?
Anyway. When I tell people here that I live in England, they all ask the same question to a man (and woman)
"So how is it to live in ".
I don't live in London. It's funny, most italians presume that London is the only place in England. And another thing I've noticed: They're obsessed with the UK Royal Family. They want to know everything about them . No, ....they KNOW everythiing about them.
Off to the local deli now to buy some food . and wine..

Isn't Venice a place in Italy? Making Venice part of Italy and not vice versa? I think it was meant as Italy is becoming like Venice, as in flooded.

Technically, Italy is a part of Venice as it's the same territory, and Venice is a part of Italy, so it works either way.
Well you need a professional on the job. Most of the defences in Italy are designed by the english!
I only know this as thats what I do design flood defenecs for the Environment Agency and some of my colleagues have been out there assessing problems
Italy will get a lot wetter before it gets any drier
