Sarge, told me I was approaching 1000, and that I really ought to have something special to talk about...
Well for me food is very special, especially when prepared in the context of a seductive meal for the one you love or the one with whom you wish to make love...
A romantic meal for two ( or however many suits you) just cannot be beaten.... I love to prepare a meal specially for my partner.... sometimes we just enjoy the meal... whereas othertimes....
What I really would love to know is, assuming some of you wonderful lot think along similar lines.... from what you write you certainly are a sophisticated lot, what would be your ideal seductive romantic meal...
This can be one that you would prepare for youself for your lover( potential lover), or it could be one that you would want a lover /partner to prepare for you...
I look fwd to what you say... and what you all enjoy.... I will of course post mine in due course...
So there you go Sarge.... It is special to me hope it is OK for you!!! wink
regards
Gmanxxx
Tea (has to be tetley) & toast
Cant be beaten wink
Easily pleased
Cant cook for toffee in case u did not gather.... rolleyes
Good thread, Gman!
Avacado and grapefruit cocktail
Champagne sorbet with wild berries
Pheasant in an elderflower wine sauce with seasonal vegetables
Fresh strawberries with heather honey icecream (to die for!!!)
lol
My fave meal (Beef Wellington) would not be good if an evening of 'pleasure' was envisaged. So, an alternative;
Starter should be simple... Just stuffed mushrooms and a small salad of rocket and spinach. Add a vinagerette dressing and if needed a Creme Fraiche (wrong spelling), honey and chilli mix as a dip (dip can also be used with main course)
Main: Simple again: Monkfish tails. Just in the oven; wrapped in foil. Add herbs of your choice, lemon, sliced mushrooms and butter and virgin olive oil. Just bake for xx (depends on size of tails ). Serve with veg and really good crusty bread.
Pud: I don't do puds - so will have to be cheese and fruit
Paul
Starter - Freshly baked garlic bread
Main - Spag bol - Home made sauce of course, and 'real' non dried pasta
Pudding - Hmm, not a pudding guy like Paul...
Short n hairy (The Wife) says:

I take it that YOU provided the TRIMMINGS then. (First time I've heard it called trimmings!)
Woohoo my 999th post!
I'm almost 'godlike'
I don't think you can beat a really good fish pie - food of the Gods! Especially when made with really good natural smoked haddock, ood, prawns and cream topped with creamy ,buttery mash. Ummmmmm! Accompanied with some really good white wine and finished with "Slut Raspberries" (Nigella Lawson) with really thick cream........
And then some cheese
....and coffee
......and brandy

Icepie,
SLUT RED RASPBERRIES IN CHARDONNAY JELLY
You might think that no recipe could live up to this title. It’s a reasonable presumption, but thank God, a wrong one. This is heaven on the plate: the wine-soused raspberries take on a stained glass, lucent red, their very raspberriness enhanced; the soft, translucently pale coral just-set jelly in which they sit has a heady, floral fragrance that could make a grateful eater weep.
(Nigella Lawson "The Domestic Godess")
:P Good Post
Starter - Pan Fried King Prawns in paprika, garlic and cajun seasoning
Intermediate - Small, Chablis poached, Dover Sole
Main - Pot roasted lamb shank with sweet potatos and artichoke
Sweet - Something with obscene amounts of chocolate
Coffee - Gotta be a good Italian espresso
Afters - damn right after cooking that

Sounds to die for... and that's coming from someone who doesn't even like raspberries biggrin
