This could have been written by me, i would rather hear the truth from any of my friends than have them lie to me because they think thats what i want to hear, therefore i do the same for them, if they are not happy with what i say and can fall out with me over it then they were never a true friend to start with.

Yes but then I do love a good argument - most people seem to pussyfoot around a lot and its only when you get them a bit steamed up on a subject that they really start to express honestly held views. Ultimately I have my own opinions which I will present and defend but, as quite often happens, someone points out that my opinions are incorrect or invalid or just plain wrong because of ABCDE then that's great and I feel I've been educated and had my mind opened.
With friends I actually find it easier to have a ding dong because we all know each other so well that no offense is ever taken and passion in a point of view is accepted as just that.

a real friend will be able to take a point of view and, whilst they may not like it, will never hold it against you (or not for long anyway).
I've discovered this over the last 2 years, my girl is very opinionated and she had words with a friend of ours (quite strong words too!) yet it was forgotten about within minutes and they carried on as if nothing had happened. I have other acquaintances (?) who would have really fallen out over it.
Remember you CAN pick your friends, and the real ones stick together...
