I personally think it was a good move from admin. The first page seems a lot busier with responses. That might not be the case but where before responses to threads were spread now they are in one place makes it seem that way.
What do others think?

I like it! All the chatter in one place. Now if they'd move the current affairs forum in here too that would make it back to normal! I like reading everything but I'm not hugely up on current affairs. Sometimes it's good to read them, I learn stuff when its not all full of aggro. I think there'd be more people contributing to them if they were in the cafe too. I'm sure others like me look at the current affairs forum and think they're not smart/interested enough to get involved.

But that wouldn't be back to normal. Back to normal as in as it was years ago is as it is right now. I showed by linking to the forum in its previous state that the glut of Current affairs topics now in the current affairs forum never really existed until that forum was made. The previous version of the cafe was pretty much current affairs free. I wouldn't put the CA in here you will just draw more people into some of the highly debated threads which to me is a bad thing. The forum stops becoming fun then IMHO. ITs easy to see there are folk from the CA who really dont like each other, I wouldn't spread that into the cafe.
As for the other merge so far yes I like it :thumbup:

also with DG on bringing in the CA i know there used to be some forumites bleeting on about not liking them but i said it before they split it and i stand by it still if you don't like such threads just don't open the buggers
over the years there has been a few threads i have never even opened as the title told me straight away it was not for me and it would get me wound up so i avoided it plain n simple
but also agree again with DG that it is nice to read um from time to time as you actually learn summat sometimes my opinion on some things have actually been altered even if only slightly by things i learnt in such threads but yet with them in a seperate forum its as rare as hens teeth i even go in there

I stick by what I have said in many previous threads. This is not a Current affairs forum, there are plenty of places on the web to debate current affairs should you wish to. The types of thread in the CA hardly ever existed prior to the creation of the CA forum. In one way I would be for the merging of the CA forum as that means closing it down
I dont think a CA forum should be on the list of forums in a swingers community. The problem with that is now that the CA community has formed and there are posters who like to post in there then closing it will bring the threads in here 
Yes I dont have to read them but it is not only me thats affected and and I am also affected by not reading them :shock: Thats because others who may not have read them tucked away in the CA forum will read them in the cafe. They are then more prone to becoming part of the bickering squad that goes on around some of those threads and often carries over into cafe threads. I think the best way to look at this is if the CA forum was not created a few years back would we now be saying lets make the Cafe title

been using these forums since mid 2005 hun and there has always been threads that would come under the title CA and there has always been bickering yet i still feel it was better when it was all merged into one but that is just a personal opinion

Yeah but there are probably very few where it would be acceptable during a conversation to suggest popping round for some gratuitous sex.
On most current affairs forums I should imagine it would be taken the wrong way if someone was to suggest fucking someone up the arse ....whereas here

Actually not, only the odd few and I provided the links to prove that point in previous threads. Not going to keep putting them up. You can check the forum through history and if you go back prior to CA forum being added there were very few if any CA type threads. Yes there was bickering but it was about different issues.

Same points made over and over but badly. We couldent do the above on a Gardening forum, medical forum etc etc etc etc etc etc so lets have those two forums as well

i hadnt realised at first that the forums had merged ... i just wondered why the page looked different lol
i cant rember what i said before the merge but as it is now i dont much like it .. try as i might, i simply dont like "the just for fun" threads and i dont care much for introduction threads either
i do like the CA forums and i read it but dont often post on it but im not bothered if its merged or not with the others

or at least nowhere near in the quantities there are now. do the searches yourself and you will find front pages of the cafe from all dates without hardly a CA/political thread on them. Sex God

And of course you are right there has always been the CA/political type threads they just intensified when a forum with a complimentary name was created. Makes sense really. Its only my opinion but I dont think that will mingle well in the cafe. I just dont think I really want people who surf into a swingers forum to see a first page with Guantanamo bay threads student protest threads and a host of members with politically charged signatures.

it was split up because of the moaning about the CA threads and the JFF threads getting in the way there was even a thread about it (no i can't find it and boy i have looked gone crossed eyed tryin to find it ) and now we got peeps moaning they want it all merged again

i still say get CA back in here but like i said thats just my opinion

Bringing "fun" threads into The Cafe because it seems quiet or to bump the post count is just masking the inherent problem of a lack of posts!
I'd happily go back to the previous setup where everything had it's place. It's mean I wouldn't have to ignore the first half page of detritus before I got to a real thread worth reading.
