it's been mentioned a lot recently about "why" people like SH .. whether it be for the fabulous atmosphere or for finding fun in swinging. There is a great sense of community and acceptance .. so I thought it would be good to get a general view ....

glad to see you got your poll back lol. I am definately here NOT to swing, be bi or dog ( though judging from my posts lately many people may find that hard to believe lol). I have made some really great friends in here. One special one is Lucifer who has made my confidence as a woman treble over the last couple of months and for that I thank him. My other friends are too many to mention. I sometimes love this place, sometimes hate it and often question why the **** am I on here???? My friends in real life know I come on here and accept that its something I enjoy. My life is very pressured and this place is a great chill out pill most of the time. The quality of the cafe is so good again in the last couple of weeks that once again I am addicted. Could be far worse. This place has seen me in all my moods happy, sad, manic, naughty and basically boring. It has supported all of these moods and for that I can say in a year when I could have turned to drink, depressants or worse SH has kept me going.

We're hardly 'hardened swingers', but yea we enjoy the forum for all manner of reasons- I get to use it more than Lucy, but we always discuss things I/we have read on it, which is good- makes a change from conversations about money/ work/ kids/ housework etc! , and tho we havnt made any 'friends' yet, we feel a certain 'connection' with many of the regulars, which I hope can lead to true friendship in the future.

Well we are most definitely in the "swinging" category. However, we have decided to give it a rest for a while (no specific time - could be weeks, could be more). We just got a bit fed up of people (mainly couples) messing us around. Actually, since we haven't been swinging, our sex life has been absolutely fantastic lately and we feel very close. Could be just coincidence. One thing is certain, we are and always will be swingers. I am still enjoying reading and contributing to the board tho.
This poll would usually be easy to answer. Love the atmosphere, don't swing....

calista, yep it's always been the friendships that keep me here, much more than the swinging. i found the place by accident, just after coming out of a relationship that ended badly, and the place was a real lifeline for a while. i had no idea what swinging was all about, but the site's just full of some of the nicest people you could hope to meet in any walk of life, there's a real sense of community here, and people genuinely care and reach out when needed.
i kinda gave up on the whole idea of swinging for a long while, and had major doubts about the whole thing, but i stuck around mainly cos of people i came to see as very real friends. like corrie it's done wonders for my confidence, and though i'm getting back into the swing of things, that's only a small part of why i'm here. the sincerity, depth, and insane humour of many on here are sadly quite rare IRL in my experience. i know i can come on here in the blackest of moods, and the place will have me smiling again. and yeah corrie the atmosphere has been great again lately, and i've never seen the forum so active. long may it continue.

I'm here primarily for the laughs, pissing about in the forum, and making friends. The rest is a bonus, and each to their own but personally I wouldn't do the rest with anyone I didn't consider true friends.

We came across the site by accident. We typed in dogging and this site popped up.
As it was dogging we were looking for at the time we started browsing the dogging section and realised that not much happens up here.
We then started using the chatroom for a while and started meeting guys for fun.
Then we found the forum. The swinging thing was second to meeting and chatting with lovely people. It was like an addiction.
We went along to our first munch absolutely bloody terrified, had many drinks to calm the nerves and met many lovely and genuine people that were interesting and funny. We didn't think of swinging that night at all, the social aspect was great.
We then followed a thread on the forum about a party that was coming up. It sounded like a party that we might enjoy so eventually plucked up the courage to ask for an invite, wow, we were on the list. Off we travelled south of the border, petrified yet again but what a buzz. Again, we met lots of fantastic people that made us so welcome.
We have since been to another munch and what a night it was, brilliant people, funny, relaxing night out and a fab after munch party, what a laugh.
We have a few other events looming but we can honestly say that swinging is at the back of our minds when we go to these. We think of it as meeting lovely people that we can chat with and make friends with. If it feels right have fun with.
It is very liberating especially for us as Del is a and is accepted in all the groups of people that we have met.
So, back to the original question. We are swingers but the social aspect is above and beyond sex for us. If we have sex it is a bonus.
Looking forward to meeting the rest of you guys some day.

I would like to echo the views of a number of other people and say that I am here primarily to make friends and anything else is a bonus. The best things in life are free and this site proves it!

I'm going to bump this as I don't really think it's completely run it's course.
It's taken me a good few years to be totally "convinced" (and by that i don't mean Morb wearig me down ... I mean more to feel totally at ease). And then I got talking to some friends from a parenting website and we all expressed similar desires. Each of us went off hunting for the best site and I ended up here pretty quickly.
I will day that if we gave up swining I would still be here as the atmosphere, support, friendships and general attitude is excellent. The people regardless of their preferences, gender, desires etc are by far the most accepting I have ever experienced and I really feel that my life would be emptier without SH.

Thanks for bumping it, I had missed it the first time. I as most people know don't swing in a physical way. However the open banter on here although initially causing friction (when she didn't understand) has actually done my relationship good.
We have made some good friends, close enough to home for occasional visits, and although they don't know it the upshot of our last visit left Mrs TnH in a right sexy mood which required my help :twisted:
Most of my friends know about here, and although a thread search on my TnH alias may prove a little
I am not embarrassed to be here. It has helped me define who I am, and is helping Mrs TnH out of her shell. Is there a Social Swinger, I think so, now just looking forward to the big upcoming Munch, sadly will be alone (She is staying to watch kids), but I hope that wont last in a room full of friends

Almost by accident I found the chatroom and logged in. Then I was encouraged to join the forum to beat the record of most people online. I then found the cafe and the rest!
We came here for the swinging, but the friendships I have made are some of the closest I have. The social makes the swinging bit more friendly and less pressured. Mr. Fem was very impressed with the NW munch3 and loved how the social side thrived, something they don't have in Denmark.
So, from "no way, not my thing" to "hi can I have an invite to your sex party please?" in the space of a few months must mean I feel comfortable and safe in the environment created here.
