My local petrol station is closed, and I started to panic as my gauge was on empty. Fortunately, a small village petrol station is still open and has petrol, so I put a bit more in than I usually would.
well i can report that as from tonight the garage at the asda wakefield, is closed.
not sure if they have run out of juice or just closed to stop congestion building up for the peeps at the supermarket.

Folks were queueing like mad at Tesco's today confused
Took us about an hour to eventually get to the pump and bleeding hell they were only allowing per car
live quite near the BP refinery in Grangemouth where there was a large protest in "2000" Looks definite like it'll be deja vu again on Wednesday..

All the local garages around here all have long queues at the moment, people are panic buying, and some have even started running out, could curtail dogging if it gets worse, but hopefully should be over soon..

Sorry to piss on your post, but if not being able to go dogging was the worst of the possible problems, I think we could consider ourselves lucky rolleyes
Does this mean I might not be able to get to work?????????
Oh dear what a shame
Just have to spend the day at home!
Err helloooooooooo you could always walk!!!

Panic, panic. rolleyes Mama Mia, here we go again .These situations come and these situations go.
We will now all run out to the petrol stations tomorrow to fill our cars and create panic buying and keep them topped up by buying fuel every time we have room for a few litres in the tank. Some people will now buy extra fuel and store it in their garages etc. all this will help to create a even bigger shortage and up the price. The more we panic buy the more they will put up the price and charge even more money per litre or even ration it out, that is If we can even get any at all because many people will have it in storage somewhere. I remember the last time this happened one guy had almost £1000 worth of fuel stored all over the place such as in his own garage, at his parents garage and other friends and relations. He didn't even need it really as he only worked about a mile from his home. It doesn't help the situation when people do this.
I'm not entirely sure that this sort of thread helps if it creates panic buying, except the fuel companies, and the revenue people of course.
Oh well, a short time without fuel for our cars will make us use the busses and trains and take us three times as long to get wherever we are going and three times the cost of course. I can hardly believe how much the train fares are these days. However I'm sure it wont come to that as there seems to be plenty of fuel about at the moment.
We will just have to entertain more at home :P wink . Nice idea : biggrin

Erm just trying to help you biggrin It's not wisdom, it's practise.
The ironic thing about it...is that we may only run out of petrol if people panic buy...and that panic creates more panic... so it is in fact a vicious circle.....so by putting out the story the job has already been done...
I use public transport so i am only going to be indirectly affected... but i have no sympathy for any group of people who want to hold the country to ranson and create that type of panic
is it is democratic then good for them... if they are going to create havoc to get their point across... then if they break the law in any way (and that includes go slows on motorways) then arrest them.... why should there need be any greater than anyone elses???????
Freckledbird thks appreciated
Well its started here, went up town earlyer to restock the amber nectar (just had to celebrate the cricket)
4 out of the 5 petrol stations in town closed, and the one that was open had a q half way up the high street rolleyes
oh hum ................ no fuel, how sad, no work for me then :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
now who said something about a party?

I have always wanted to go on a tandem but never yet done it. My bicycle gets used to get to the train station every day. This morning I had the pleasure of being one of 37 people standing in one carriage on the way to work mad

Thanks Angel Bird redface surprisedops:
Quite frankly although inconvienient its about time the british people got some blody balls and used the same power of the people the french and the US populus have....
The US people wouldnt stand for the prices we pay over here... infact they even have rules, I believe, that doesnt allow the pumps to be owned by the oil companys so the power of the consumer runs slightly deeper than the "tax/duty"
The last time there was a protest everyone was up in arms and slagged off the protestors (especially the papers) and now we are at nearly 1 pound per lita when the us is nearer 1 pound a gallon.
The biggest feck up was when we had to go to litas and not gallons as any gov that put over about 3pence a gallon duty would not have been in power for long, but we are so stupid that 3pence a lita doesnt register yet works out about 12p(ish) a gallon... if HMG had put a 12p gallon increase back in the 80's it would not have lasted the week never mind waiting for a general election.
HMG knows that no matter how expensive petrol is, we wont give up our cars... simple!!!
Trains have been proven to, even fully laiden, be less eficient than a car with one occupent for the output of carbon particulates and also miles per gallon usage of raw fuel per people moved per mile.
LPG will be taxed even higher as soon as it becomes more popular than petrol and desil... as far as HMG is concerned it not about carbon or polution... but making money to pay some quango to say that we need a better transport system and also more quangos to make more stupid sugestions to make more money to have more quangos.
The best thing I saw tonight was that you can convert your car to run on cooking oil... and even better it can also use filtered cooking oil that your local chippy has to dump as its become to old to use.... but should you have the conversion and ask your local chippy "all that crap oil that you have to pay to get rid off... i'll take it off your hands for nothing...." you then filter it and use it in your car... you have to declair it and then pay HMG 24p a lita so save the chippy and cooking oil companys paying polution tax.... LIKE FUCK ME ITS WASTE, ITS BEING RECYCLED, IT COST NOTHING, ITS BEEN TAXED ALREADY, ITS NOT GOING TO END UP AS LAND FILL, wake up HMG and go take a flying fuck up your own concieted self indulgent arseholes....
And before anyone asks.... yes i have been inconvienienced by twats who filled up... drove 15 miles... came back... then topped up..... as i couldnt get to where i wanted to be tonight.
BUT
if people cant survive for a couple of weeks of inconvienienvce and even not getting to work to wake up HMG to people power then they deserve petrol at 4 pounds a lita and when they do they are not allowed to say "its to blody expensive..." in the 80's people would never have contemplated petrol at the price it is now... and the states still dont.. only us brits that roll over to get our tummys ticklled the moment HMG say bend over... we love being right butt fucked by the goverment cos we are all cowards.. all stiff upper lip and that crap!
OH and while i'm on a rant... perhaps we shoudl all go green and have electric cars? welll DUR so where does that electricity come from... like power stations that burn fule to produce lecki... then we have the wastage of the electricity as its moved to the power points we charge our electric cars from... The only "clean" fuel is atomic... but it creates a waste prduct that will be with us for 10's of thousands of years.
We also have now in nottingham an electic tram... and also a new road system that is designed to keep cars waiting and going around in circles far longer than the original system so people on the trams can get from a to b quickly (if they dont have 4 bags of shopping from tescos) but the rest of the trafic is being forced to be grid locked so increasing the amount of fuel waisted and the amount of polution in the city...
also while the tram physically infront of you produces no polution it produces more polution than the equivilent number of cars.... its just produces it outside of the city and in other places in the uk because it has to draw the power from electricity generating stations....
