The idea of an ethnography is that you are studying people in their own environment, usually but not always as a participating observer.
A written ethnography should be very descriptive in a completely unbiased way - it's really hard!Harder than you'd think!
The question of ethics rears it's ugly head when you have to take into consideration the rights of the peoples you are observing - should they be informed? Do you need their consent? If so, how does that affect their behaviour ... blah blah ... WAKE UP YOU AT THE BACK!!!
