Can I please make a nice comment and compliment everyone who posts on here.
I am currently studying a degree in social problems and ethics and care practices and I've gained an abundance of knowledge from people posting on here and answers to the threads. At my age I didn't expect to be doing what I am doing, I really thought I would have been settled with my career choice, family and house with the flowers in the garden lol but I'm not and I'm making a complete and utter career change.
I have learnt so much over the past few months with my reading material but I have learnt an equal amount here not just in normal answers but also by reflecting on my own thoughts also. I like having my own thoughts challenged as we are not all perfect.
Anyway, there you go, thanks everyone :happy:

when I was doing anthropology at uni, I very nearly did an ethnography on swinging but decided it was too close to home for me to be able to give an objective viewpoint.

Is it ethical? Very very verygood question!
The idea of an ethnography is that you are studying people in their own environment, usually but not always as a participating observer.
A written ethnography should be very descriptive in a completely unbiased way - it's really hard! sad Harder than you'd think!
The question of ethics rears it's ugly head when you have to take into consideration the rights of the peoples you are observing - should they be informed? Do you need their consent? If so, how does that affect their behaviour ... blah blah ... WAKE UP YOU AT THE BACK!!!

Ok Ok, can I clarify that I'm LEARNING from posts here on SH, not cutting and pasting and putting into assignments.! That would be plaigerism! (or something like that!) :lol:
