Please don't misunderstand, I'm not having a dig here - I've quoted Phredd, but I've seen this a couple of times over the last few days and when I think back I often see people apologising at the start of a new thread if it's not swinging related
I've been around here a while now so maybe it's just my general ignorance. Is the Cafe just for any general chit chat or is it for swinging related chit chat? dunno

I’ve always thought of the Café as place where pretty much anything within the AUP, can and should be discussed. Restricting topics to Sex in general and Swinging in particular would get very stale and boring very soon.
I would welcome much more “off topic” chat rather than less, but that’s just a personal opinion and I realise others may well feel differently.

I can see why some threads get locked pretty much instantly as they are obviously going nowhere but sometimes I sit and think why when a thread that will stimulate some interesting discussions and generate some life into the old place is locked...
I have to admit this is exactly what we thought when we saw that a really interesting and thought-provoking thread on sadams death had been locked, when others that are in no way swinging related haven't been locked. Often there are threads that perhaps only 3 or 4 people can add to as they include 'in jokes' which going by the 'not swinging related rule' should also be locked.
I take on board jags points about the amount of shit that mods have to put up with, however, what I don't like is how it at times seems like one rule for some and an entirely different rule for others, and locking some decent threads is surely giving more work than necessary, and probably leads to the 'why was that thread locked' pm-ing?
Not a mjaor rant, honest, just an observation..............

I have lots of socks...not just three pairs....and a washing machine that i can was them with! I know, i know, its a contempory idea but soon we will all have one
