Hi All, I wonder if you can help me at all......?
I have recently decided to work from home and as such it means doing very long hours and working until every night. Now, I'm getting enough sleep for my age and body but I still find myself getting very sleepy at around midnight and I find it really hard to carry on until ...
Does anyone have any tips to keep me awake in those late hours?
Now before you suggest the following, DON'T:
Pro-Plus - Can't cause it interferes with my current Medication
Alcohol - Can't cause I don't want to end up an Alcoholic, LoL...and I don't drink.
Cigarettes - Gave up at Christmas and can't smoke in the house anyway
Any other suggestions will be gratefully received!!! :rose:
Try natrasleep or valerian tea! Which should be available from health food shops!
Hi Helen
If you are working at home, try and organise your day so you can finish earlier. Then find a good man for a couple of hours!!!!

Hummmm, the fact that your body gets tired around midnight isn't suprising cos that's when it probably wants to go to sleep!!!!! But if you really must stay awake til the early hours every night without any stimulants, fresh air and walking around at regular intervals will help. If you sleep later in the mornings your body should adjust to your late nights.
obviuosly drink tea or coffee, and take a five minute walk round your back garden every two to three hours. That's what I do. *smokerjim goes downstairs to make a brew, pours boiling water into cup onto tea bag, goes out for a smoke, before coming back to continue watching the thread*
I suppose it's just common sense and getting some fresh air will probably help, and perhaps a piece of fruit as well.....
Splash your face with COLD water or take a COLD shower - that should wake you up
If I lived nearer, I would keep you company AND awake!!!

red bull it gives you wings you know
Take a break every hour if only to walk in the fresh air
then drink a can of redbull
hope it helps
Same advice really ... drink loads of ice cold water, splash some on your face and wrists (gets your circulation going), step outside for a couple of minutes fresh air.
I would try to avoid anything unnatural ... tea, coffee, Red Bull etc. Banana's are supposed to give you a boost of energy aren't they? What about a meal earlier on of something rich with amino acids to get your brain going? Dunno if it really works, like. Avoid too many carbs 'cos they might make you sluggish. Anything's worth atry, i guess.
Good luck, Helen. I know you've always been a hard worker.
Thanks for the advice everyone.......It's much appreciated.....I think the best thing is to get a few minutes of fresh air and eat a piece of fruit or have a soft drink......
I wish I still smoked!!! LoL....
try this, work less, do what I do

Just wondering how u got on last night Helen? Nodding off too early or did the suggestions work? lol
eat two satsumas when the eyes start feeling it
got the tip from a long distance coach driver and it works a treat and is obviously pure and natural
I usually work 12hour shifts which isn't much I know but you can feel the strain on your body. Especially through the night shift.
Things I've found best are:
Company. Somebody to talk to during the day. It may not feel like doing much but it will keep you awake, your mind active and hopefully productive too. I must stress that MSN or telephones are not the answer for this. You need to know that somebody is actually there. Tried and tested. This does not mean you should be shagging this person over and over because eventually you will get tired again.
Every 3-4 hour hours you should be having a break. If your job is a sit down one then activity is probably best for you. A walk, fresh air. Different scenery or doing something that does not involve hard thinking ie reading.
Because it is around 2:30 you feel sleepy then you will need some slow acting food four hours before this time. If you know you are enarly finished work then a quick sugar boost (marsbar/chocolate, fizzy drink, not diet) will get you through another 15 or so mins.
If after all the suggestions said by the board you are still sleepy then it is really suggested you look at your working practices. Is there anything you can do more effectively? Do you have to do all of the tasks given to you? If yes then is there a way of automating them?
Helen I have a trick try puting cld water on backs of writs and neck and eyes help me.
