Do a search on SMOKING. You'll find lots of advice!!
My last cigarette was 21st November 1980. There are some things too awful to contemplate and a life-time without cigarettes is one of them if you're a smoker. I couldn't tell you the date I lost my virginity but I can tell you exactly when I last had a cigarette.
I hope you can give it up. This is how I did it. I never gave up. Without planning to give it up I got up one morning and decided to wait until lunch time before having a smoke. At lunch time I decided to wait until tea time. At tea time I decided to wait until bed time. At bed time I decided to wait until the morning.
And so it went on. I didn't confront the horror of giving up - I just kept putting off having the next smoke.
The benefits of giving up are immense. I hope you manage it.

Buy a box of fags, usually about 200.
Start chain smoking them.
If you can do that non stop until you are sick, you'll probably stop smoking.
i was quite lucky. I gave up about 25 years ago. At the time I was quite ill and smoking was just hellish. So it really helped me give up.
I was really aggressive for a while with anyone offering a smoke.
But I am glad I stopped. I feel normally healthy now.
Allen Carr's book is brilliant, my mum had smoked for 43 years up to 60 a day and with the help of this book and nicotine patches she gave up 18 months ago and hasn't had one since.
Good luck, its worth all the effort in the end.

I started smoking when I was 8. Not all that much mind you. Luckily I decided it was a silly thing to do and stopped when I was 12.
I might get this book for my dad though, his health isn't good at all and I'm sure stopping smoking would help him no end.
If you know anyone else who is trying to stop, make a pact with them.
I've told my kids that if they get to the age of 21 without starting they get £1000 each.
With work I went to a giving up seminar, didnt work for me but I thought the idea behind it was good.
Your not giving up ciggys your gaining other things.
Example: your in a resturant and your freinds dont smoke so you have to wait until everyone is finished before you can have your fag. You therefore without thinking about it rush your meal to try to get them to hurry up, rather than taking your time and enjoying your meal. So you have a positive net gain.
The course was all about positive gains so make a list in your head of what positive items you will have in the future.
Good look how you succeed!
It was a couple of years ago. But the name Allan Carr does ring a bell...
Alternatively, if you smoke this book, you should mess up your lungs enough to stop.
you could try a paul Mc Kenna tape or cd he's the famous Hypnotist me and my wife stopped smoking this way
His site is on the internet and tapes cost around £12, .
And in addition the tapes also fully relax you.
The very best of luck
Havent realy got any tips on giving up/stopping, I used to smoke up to 60 rollies per day into my early 20's, wlaking to work one day I was really struggling to get up a hill due to poor /reduced lung capacity. threw my 'baccy' away and havent smoked since, stupid thing is I was never ever addicted to the bloody things so I had no excuse.
To stop or give up, it is useless merely to educate you to the risks of smoking (Im sure you are well aware of them) what you need to find is the motivation and also the desire to cease or at least cut down. Addiction to smoking is not really much different to any other addiction and the real answer lies within yourself.
Motivation for me was to clear my lungs and be fit, reduce the risk of heart disease and also to stop smelling like a tramp (smoking does make you stink), these factors may not be enough for you btu whatever you try, try and get some kind of support network, family/friends, let them know what you are trying to do and ask them to support you through it. good luck with it
forgot to add that many smokers try to stop and many fail to do so, they also try many times. Therefore if you relapse, dont beat yourself up, you are up against a very powerful substance, gather yourself and try again, learn from the last time dont feel like you have lost the war.
I gave up smoking March 4th 2004.
I substiuted cigerattes for sucking lollipops!!!!!
As daft as it sounds it worked for me.
I also had the support of the stop smoing nurse at the local surgery.
I will also add my other half was still smoking as were all his friends in the house but I managed it through sheer will power lol
Good luck hun and if you do need support there are lots of us on the site who have done it.
