More of a feature request than a bug... as the site now 'knows' if a person is a man, woman or couple, how about limiting the choice of advert category in the 'my adverts' section to just the relevant ones? If the option to post in 'women seeking men' was only available to women, then loking after that section of the site would be a lot less work for the mods, and a lot more useful to readers!
How does one find the usual ad profile? Everytiime I try to do photo ad search it reads 'unavailable'.
Has the new face of SH retained my old ad or do I need to do it again?
Cheers.
Interesting one - If you attempt to use the My Search option the nice designer has stuffed the page full of goodies to look for including two age drop down boxes to allow you to select an age range - great idea..........
BUT......
OOOOOPPPPS
Do we really want people to be able to search for 5, 10 and 15 years olds I THINK NOT !
Looks really good doesn't it !
Moral of the story - engage brain before coding !
Just seen my thought was covered earlier "Ages" on the my search tab
I'm sure most problems will be sorted over time... But hey, us lot do like to moan ;-)
I'm guessing a lot of the problems visually are caused by years of hacking the original standard forum software and half inching it into the layout using CSS (bloody evil they are... bring back standard HTML and tables, lol) as "orums" is still dark blue, lol.
My adverts had "expired" so i'll probably just leave them as I cant be arsed to log in to copy them into this "global" profile.
I'm sure once the major problems have been sorted then things like advert searches could also be made to be exclusive so that scanning profiles where a profile isnt looking for your "type" are excluded... or better still allow them to be included but have a big red "not looking for you" flag because I've made some great friends in the past which I would not have had I never seen their profiles, perhaps an optional "looking for (your profile type) only" that is set by default.
I'd also suggest moving the "user menu" over to the left so that the main section of the screen is not being compressed by two menus on either side.
I'm susre the search thing age wise is due to copying standard code from another system and is un-intended for this type of site... although its rather bad foresite... perhaps someone should have set up a test system, made the changes, and then copied the DB over once the new site was finished.... that said, i used to work in IT and I know what a bitch it is when things have to go live even if not fully tested (or even needed) because its required by the managment to prove investment to the outside world.
I just hope that these changes when fully implimented and working DONT turn this site into what DD's and D&M's have become... totaly no-comunity no real advertisers, crap.
but things do seem to be improving as the recurrent error message seems to have gone
New Glitch discovered
In the chatroom you now have the ability to view other people's pics and ads, but there are 2 problems I can see so far
1) If you've been in the chatroom for more than about 15 minutes (not sure of exact timing on this), you get logged off the rest of the site, so if you try to view someone's ad you get sent to the login page instead of their advert. Surely if you're chatting in the chatroom you should still be classed as being logged into the site
2) The member photos don't come up at all. I have a photo on my profile which should by rights come up if someone clicks on my member pic in the room. All that happens is the box says "showing pic 1 of 0"
This isn't a glitch as such, just me wanting to know something.
At the very botton in red it says:- 'signup stage 2'
Could someone tell me what this means, thank you
(sorry if this has been covered else where, but with no 'other posts by' type button, or a member search button, I am having problems)
Maybe for the new members who will have to pay for the premium bits of the site?
I seem to have 2 accounts one as a forum user and one as an ad account, how do you join the two?. apologies if this has already been asked but i haven't read all of this thread. (casr of post question first read later)
Very simply, we can't get our Avatar to work. The picture files are not displaying properly.
Not a glitch so much as an oversight (I hope  )... the forum timeout is way too short. If you're writing anything longer than "Fancy a shag" you get a login page and lose your post.
From experience, this is probably a cacheing issue - AOL users seem especially prone to it. A workround is to rename the problem images (" " and " ") and change the HTML to reflect the new names, which will force the caches to request the images again.
Oh and while we are on the topic on the logo, why does the letter S cast a shadow, but the H does not?
