Good on you Clare. Hope you enjoy your 'new' world.

I'm both happy and shiny - but that's a different thread surely??

Does that mean we're going to have a sexy avatar of you looking over the top of yer contacts then?
Sounds great - I bet it's a sort of feeling of freedom and a confidence booster as well.

It is biggrin Even though I do feel a bit naked without them now redface
As for a new av confused maybe I should,Ive had a different haircut since then is a bit dated, ill have a think about that one smile
There's nothing wrong with glasses - especially not with the way you look in glasses Clare - but if you've got something that makes you feel better about yourself, good for you.
Mike.
I remember when I wore those contacts for the Munch, it took about 5 times putting them in and taking them out before I got used to doing it.
It's dead easy once you get used to the feeling.
Look forward to seeing you without the specs. kiss
Need to put my glasses on, clicked on the thread thinking it was something to do with the google search engine lol
Nice one claire, it wont take you long to get used to them, think how much easier it is to put makeup on biggrin

Have you changed the colour of your eyes as well Claire : brown, blue, hazel, green, as I understand one can, when wearing contact lens, you've always looked great anyhow. biggrin :D :D
I've been wearing contact lenses for about 16 years now but I remember the first time at the opticians - it took the poor woman nearly two blummin hours to get me to keep my eyes open long enough to stick the buggers in.
It gets easier. You can almost do it with your eyes shut!
I know how you feel about feeling naked without them. Sometimes, when I need to rub my eyes, I still do it as though I have glasses on - slide my finger under, you know?
It's great though - no steaming up when you come in from the cold, no rain spoiling your vision, no worries of them slipping off when you're on a rollercoaster(!), and you can wear sunglasses that are non=prescription - woohooo!!!!
Good for you, Clare. Though I do think you suit glasses wink
Be careful though clare.... sometimes , when you blink really fast... they roll up and get stuck on the back of yer EYE! And then you can see your BRAIN actually thinking!!! It's true.... a friend told me...
(i'm still a speccy 4 eyes btw)

Yep - I've been a wearer for over 20 years. Started on hard; progressed to gas-permeables and then finally onto softies. It's almost second nature taking them in and out. Sometimes after a good (or bad) night out I have no idea how I manage to remove them and place them into their containers - not always into the correct side - but I think in all the years of wearing them there have only been two instances where I didn't manage to take them out.
Good luckhwith yours, enjoy the freedom.
Wehey Clare yiou too hun?
I love my contact lenses and the freedom they give me andputing them in does get eaasier over time, for me its great doing a massaeg without them cos i dont get oil on my glasses now!
I do still sometime forget and absentmindley push my glasses up my nose and poke myself in the eye !!!!!!!!!

Groan confused
Although it does remind me of the time my mum went off to the opticians and realised half way through the appointment she'd been saying 'bisexual' lenses rather than bifocal lenses bless her!
Enjoy Clare! I love being able to switch between the two. Still being able to see things clearly at times when I would've had to take the gigs off (the hectic bits of rumpy pumpy/showers/general muckiness) and walking into a pub without yer glasses steaming up!
S'fab. Of course the glasses are still good for the dressin up times wink

Reminds me of that t'interweb story when a guy walks into a medical walkin center complaining that he can't get his contacts out. He says he that they were stuck and could only manage to get them half way, showing the doctor it became immediately apparent what was happening. The man didn't have them in and he was actually pulling at his cornea. Yuk.
I had them for a while but they gave me terrible headaches whenever I looked at computer scenes. They were the correcrt strength and all that so had no idea why this was the case. Just gave up in the end as I couldn't stand the pain while at work. Got used to me specs and I think I always will.
Does anybody know if Diabetics can have that lazer eye surgery yet? I know we can't but just checking incase there was a break through so to speak. cool

Dunno bout the laser eye surgery for diabetics - often thought it would be lovely to wake up and be able to see straight away (really badly short sighted) and at one time considered the laser option but then thought, well if something goes wrong (very rare I know) then I traded my sight for the inconvenience of putting me specs on in a morning -
computer says no!
On a different note I can't wear my contacts for computer work as they don't correct my site like glasses do plus find it very uncomfortable when there's air conditioning drying them out too. Great for going out! Wouldn't be without them!
