Its my birthday on saturday. I'll be single still and doubt I wil do anything. Was gonna have a night out but the klife and soul of the nights out I usual go on won't be there so can't really and can't really cobble any1 together for a night out.

I know I'm a bit late, but I really really need one.
I just had to have my dog (she was 16.5) put to sleep.
I held her on my knee as it was done!
Heart wrenching...................

Oh geez Alexandra - my heart goes out to you. I held my boxer dog's head as she was put to sleep and I swore I would never do anyhing like that again. Heartwrenching is insufficient. I like to think she was comforted by my being there but I'm not sure she knew - and what it did to me was nobody's business.

Thank you so so much......... I sobbed for ages afterwards....
We still have her son - but he is 14.5..... so I will probably have to go thru it again in the next couple of years..

My deepest sympathies.
I've lost a couple of dogs to old age and it doesn't get any easier. They're always a sadly missed member of the family. :(

Hi Alex .
I can still remember the way our cat looked at us as the vet picked him up to take him away to put him down , and that was in 1978 . I knew I was doing the right thing , but it felt like such a betrayal . But no matter how much it hurts us , we have to do what is best for the animal . Hope this bit of sympathy gives you some strenght .

My sympathies and condolences. We get so attached to our pets, but yet they live such a short time in comparison with us.
Early in Jan I had to have my old doggie and one of my cats put to sleep at the same time and it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. A friend sent me this......

Lucifer that poem is lovely....
Alex I wasn't right for a week or so after my dog was put to sleep.
I just kept getting tearful and was just not myself.
