I am just going to assume that we all going and get a full MOT at the GUM clinic regularly.
I went for my 6 monthly check up.. the works:-
HIV
chlamydia
Thrush
bacterial vaginosis
Hep C
Syphilis
and I think a couple of other things.
It all started off straight forwardly.... 'when was the last time you had sex?'
'Sunday'
'Who was that with?'
'My female partner'
'how long have you been together?'
'roughly 3 years  '
then it started to get a little tricky.
'when did you have sex before that with someone other than your partner?'
'Sunday'
'are they a regular partner?'
'nope'
'what was their name'
'ummmm @@@@ I think'
then trickier still.
'in the last 3 months how many sexual partners have you had?'
'ummmmmmmmm perhaps 5 or 6 maybe more'
'what were their names?'
'ummmm I don't know... '
he then went on to ask about using protection etc.....
do other people struggle to provide the detail they ask for at the clinic.. or do you just lie ?

Nope, they're used to me. but if I ever have a different member of staff I bring my circumstances up before they start asking the questions so it doesn't get quite so complicated. smile
Nope... I don't struggle either. I made the Consultant blush when I went and blurted out that I was swinging. Apparently I don't look the type. lol
*removes melting butter*
(Good reminder... I need to go back for my Hep B check)
told my gum clinic i swing ... no complications other than providing the number of partners all they asked at first was ... do i get paid .. i said no and they was happy with the answer
ahhhh so I just say up front that I am a swinger.
Right- that is what I will do.
thanks chaps.
my clinic has just started sending results by text. How cool is that ?

Best idea - that's what I did - and they haven't asked for names.
Mine sends results by text too.

Or more of a 'Last Tango In Paris' way? ;-)
Cant see the point in asking names!
Will the consultant be giving them detention & writing a stern letter to their parents?
My regular consultant knows I have multiple partners & non of the other consultants ever bat an eyelid when I explain why or when I turn up for checkups!
Will this not be a data protection issue?
Or even impinging on the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practice? dunno
nah, my file is all number coded etc... so no confidentiality thing.
I think the Dr may have been wondering if we had shared partners wink
which basically means I have no idea why I was asked.
they ask the names in case its their husband lol
xx fem xxx
i was asked names a couple of years ago and was told it was so they could share information with other clinics to monitor whether the people id slept with had also been checked out, in the event of any of my tests coming back positive.
unless theyre going to start knocking on peoples doors and saying "you slept with so and so recently and we feel you need to be tested..." what are they going to do with that information? what about that persons privacy? where is their name kept? how long for? who sees it? what happens with it? is their name crossed off most wanted list in a central office when they turn up? would i be able to check with them that someone who's name id given in had been in, tested and what theyre results were?? you know, just in case i didnt believe them or whatever?
i chose to maintain the privacy of my partners as the advisor couldnt answer my questions.
ive never been asked names since funnily enough...it must have "awkward cow" scrawled across my file wink
i had a friend once who was tested possitive for something (not too nasty) and the clinic offered the service of contacting the other parties and saying that they believe that someone they slept with tested possitive and advised them to get checked out and also offering them a timeslot in one of their or their closest clinic of their choice .. not sure how this would impact on someone whos wife answered a partners mobile phone who didnt know the partner was a swinger lol
I've worked a few shifts in our GUM clinic. They ask names first, so that if you test positive for something like HIV,they can then go on and contact the partners for you...as when faced with a positive result, the last thing you want to do is contact old lovers.
Cant say I agree with it tho and on a personal note, I would never give the names of my partners and dont bat an eyelid when people refuse to give them! Then again, I wouldnt let an un-condomed cock near me....nothing like working in the GUM clinic and seeing syphilis cock and genital warts to put you off unprotected sex wink

I just want to state for the record m'lud that I go to the GUM clinic as a belt and braces job, nothing to do with having an unclad cock.
cool

Same here.
I feel it should also be pointed out that a condom will do absolutely nothing to protect anyone from either a syphilis sore or a genital wart that isn't covered by the condom. Eg. on the outer labia or scrotum.
