Should SH Include a GUM Clinic Directory?

Quote by Dawnie

and yet I can put a cock in my mouth dunno

You can? Looking forward to the 26th more than ever! rotflmao
Unc you really are heading for a smackbottom :lol2:
Promises promises... looks like you're in for an interesting time Unc!
We go every sex months, we never have unsafe sex with anyone as our profile states (Except with each other)
We would never take that risk.
If other people want to do so, that is their affair and they may have their reasons. No doubt there are people on this site whom are hiv positive and others whom are less concerned about catching it, as we note from the regularity that bareback rooms pop up.
That is their decision, but we won't be breaking our rules. Condoms all round.

...apparently, they insert a steel umbrella up yer cock, and then just pull the rip cord, and scrape it back out? :scared:
in actual fact, it's a cotton bud round the tip, and a urine sample....

I've had the umbrella every time I've been. But your general point is right, it's not painful, just a bit kind of icky.

I did phone for my results that were all clear. (3 months ago)
So yes, I can say I'm clean.
Ian

but that's 3 months ago.....what about now?
...or indeed, given that the HIV virus doesn't show up in your test until it's been in your blood for up to 3 months, that's actually 6 months ago.
Only way to KNOW you're clean is to wait three months after your possible exposure, then get tested. (...of course, not allowing for the possibility that the test was wrong and you actually do have something, haha).
Or abstain from everything, of course, but that would really be no fun at all.
Or abstain from everything, of course, but that would really be no fun at all.

I've never run my life accirding to whats "best" or "healthiest" for me... as a result I have eaten and tried food from around the world, including insects, bugs, brains and soft-boiled eggs , t-bone steak whilst it was "banned" (ahem,"honest Mr Butcher, its for the dog!" :P ) due to "increased risk of CJD", intensive farmed fish and chicken, free-range and organic products and enjoyed the experience of EVERYTHING...
I have parachuted, rock-climbed with no safety rope (speed-climbing), never worn safety pads, helmet, shin pads etc when roller-skating and cycling, been on a motorbike in mini-skirt and chemise-top, no helmet, fallen off a cliff (ok, that was an accident rolleyes ), hitch-hiked, spent a night on the pennines with only a bar of chocolate and bivouac sack in freezing fog (ummm, we got lost confused ), spent 2 weeks over christmas and new year cycling round the lake district... WITHOUT MOBILE PHONES!!! (actually, at the time they weren't exactly widely available, but people take it sooo much for granted), met people from phone lines, internet that I didn't know and invited them to my own home, approached a rottweiler I didn't know.... good grief, the list goes on... the amount of things I wouldn't have done if "I only knew what was good for me"...
BUT, I've LIVED... I've enjoyed myself... yes, I've taken risks... and yes I will continue to do so... for me, life wouldn't be worth living without the "riskier" side of it being there... I'm aware of what I do, and when I take a "risk", I accept that, and any consequences... If whilst swinging I come into contact, or contract an STD, I will deal with it, by attending a GUM clinic I will know relatively quickly and for most a course of anti-biotics will sort it... I can't have children any more so for me that isn't an issue, and even if it was ever confirmed that I contracted HIV, catching it early nowadays, as with many things, improves your chances more than ten-fold... there are people who were diagnosed HIV over 10 years ago who have never (yet) gone to full-blown AIDS, we simply still don't know enough...
But I'm enjoying life... my way...
I have been swinging for a year now and havent yet been tested...i suppose a mixture of "i'm ok i always use condoms" and that stupid fear of not wanting to find out. Thanks for this thread though...just seeing that so many people in couples as well go regularly to be checked was just the motivation i needed to get along to a clinic which i will be doing this week.
Thanks everyone biggrin

Maybe clinics elsewhere are very efficient, but here in the big smoke its an all day event. Hanging about waiting, people avoiding each other's looks etc. You have to do it when necessary but its not something, you would 'want' to do. So I am kind of sceptical about the idea of planning to attend a clinic if there is no real reason to do so.
On one end of the scale it would exceedingly 'dumb' to attend a clinic if you know you are clean, or moreso indeed if you haven't had sex in several years. On the other hand; you may wake up the morning after with raging vd and obviously have to attend a clinic asap.
There is perhaps a little too much information in the thread that could be misinterpreted.
About time someone said it out loud .... Sick to the back teeth of ppl playing with fire ... What dose it take to go for a check up ffs .... And its not just blokes its females as well ..... and make sure they test your mouth as well its better to be safe than sorry .......

 it's up to people to do as they see fit though, and nobody else's business. Your choice to ignore them if you're concerned though.

And it's still up to each individual. When I went last, is none of your business, quite frankly.

You certainly don't need to worry whether you can trust me.
I'm not sad and I wasn't having a go. You came in here and said that you're sick to the back teeth of people playing with fire - my point is that you can choose not to play with them, but it's their prerogative to do as they see fit.

ummmm... calm down, freckledbird was actually agreeing with you that its a good idea to talk about it, and unless you're arranging a meet with someone then asking about when they last went to the GUM clinic etc isn't really needed, at the end of the day its each persons own decision as to what risks they choose to take with their health, everyone has the right to judge that as openly as they can, just as you may say to people you would never go bareback and would like everyone you come into contact with to be a regular at a GUM clinic... others may say I want bareback and don't care, you'd avoid them...
but having these discussions in the open at least makes people think and realise exactly what the risks are and what they can do to keep themselves safer... if they choose to...
theres no conflict here, no need to get nasty...

yes but that like playing with the lottoo .
well you cant see it . you cant taste it ... but you know you got it .... if you go 2 a clinic .. for check ups
im not a doctor but i do like to play safe and im str8 to the point and trusted
I think what we shouldn't forget is that playing safe isn't a 100% guarantee that we will stay STI free.
Touching is enough to pass on certain infections. Not just hands on genitals but the putting on of a condom can pass STI's. No matter how safe 'we' think 'we' are, it isn't fool proof.
Just because I'm happy to say I have visited a GUM clinic even though we play safe, others may not. We have to respect others opinions and wishes without shouting them down

I agree, it can be take up a hell of a lot of time going to a London NHS clinic, but at least they are walk in. I've found that if i go in the evenings after work, i am in and out in about 2 hours! Considering how busy they get, that's not too bad at all.
