OK, I've never been a dedicated follower of fashion. Alright, I wouldn't know fashion if it ran up and hit me with a big stick shouting "I am fashion" but what's with this "trend" for blokes to hair-dos (or don'ts!!!). 3 different colours, 6 layers of gel, wax, clay??? wtf!!
Is this a good thing or has the likes of mens health and GQ warped the minds of the unfair sex?
Or is it really that I'm going bald and grey and getting old so I'm just jealous?
If a lady wants to "spend" £100 on her hair then that's her choice but anything more than £10 for me would seem a rip-off!
So ladies, does this show that a man cares about his apperance and is to be encouraged or are they just a big girls blouse?

You spend a tenner on a hair cut? What's wrong with a pair of scissors and a bathroom mirror??? Amount of spend = zero pounds

A pair of electric clippers do the job fine as well.
Roger cool
(weirdly smug about the fact that I have never in my life paid anyone to cut my hair!) :smug:

:shock:It's a skill. Obviously one which I do not possess, because every time I attempt it, I end up shaving the lot off. confused
Gary, I don't think it's a trend really. There have always been blokes who are bit more fussy about their appearance, it just manifests itself in different ways at different times.
The thing I find odd is that male fashions seem OK at the time, but ten years later we're all saying "My God, did we really look like that?"
That's the thing!!!!
How we all laughed at people during the 80's - mullets & Kajagoogoo (sp?) stylee haircuts.
And here they are back again!!! FFS - look in the mirror.
Gary -Proud owner of clippers!

OK, where did youmeet my husband???
Been there, done that (think Morten Haker crossed with A Flock of Seagulls and you're about there).
In the early 90's I shaved the lot off (no3) and it's almost stayed that way since (no guard now).
oh and yep, I do it myself.
Is it me, or is there a trend starting to form here? confused
Clippers and a mirror for me, saves time, saves money and stops anybody getting hold of it!
Clippers and a No.2 for me!! confused :? :?
Waits for the jokes about Sarge having a No.2 !! rolleyes   lol
I am the proud girlfriend of a man who spends more time at the mirror than I do.
Take Saturday night for example - he went in the bathroom well before me and I was ready before him. In fact, i was stood on the doorstep, fag in hand, waiting for our lift whle he was still faffing on in the bathroom.
He spends more on his hairdresser and hair products than I do.
Yes, it's tiresome but the results are worth it. I wouldn't have it any other way. I've had boyfriends who don't care much for their hair, skin, clothes etc and it shows!
:smug:
I will never be fashionable ........the years are too many, the hair line receeded too far and the waistline expanded too much and I couldn't leave a shirt untucked to save my life, I've tried it and never got past the front door before thinking 'you bag of shite' however I do like to dress well and ensure that my appearance is that of a well groomed person. I do buy expensive suits shoes and other clothing that compliments them, most folk probably don't even know the difference, but the important thing for me is that I do and that boosts my confidence no end. I simply wouldn't feel the same stepping out in cheaper branded products.
Male grooming to the extent that I think your refering to, is still in it's infancy and in my view long overdue. I will never get onto Grattons catalogue as a male model, but I sure as hell can make sure that things like my eyebrows are trimmed and that there isn't hair growing out of every orifice in my body. I can purchase after shaves and soaps that make me smell better than god ever intended me to smell and polish a pair of shoes. I have tried to stop biting my nails but there's an auto bite thing going on there that I'm struggling with, but if I could grow them then yes, they would get manicured. If I had hair then without a doubt, I would try and get the best from it with some good styling and the various gunks and goo's that are available. I havn't so it's the hair trimmer with no guard at all.
Just the naked blades of a demon clipper for me, down to the wood lol
when you aint got much to start with, theres not nuch you can work with,
My wife likes the hard nut look anyway, thats my excuse an am stickin to it banghead
£10 for a cut and that's me lot, plus about 5 minutes styling it and then I'm done. I tend to spend more time in front of the mirror doing other things than my hair lol

A quick rub over with the Nicky Clarkes(blade only) and then slap on the Veet (formerly known as Immac)
Oh to the days when it draped on my shoulders and I resembled (slightly) Robert Plant
On the subject of hair, thought I'd share this.....
My son's mate left his phone round ours. Son get's nosey and starts checking out mates phone piccies. Loads of his vain mate posing, some alone, some with his girlfriend, some of her a litte risque and then one of a kitten.
Son Why do you have a picture of a kitten on your phone?
Mate It's my ex birds cat
Son Why'd you take a photo of it?
Mate I wasn't taking a picture of the cat. Good cover ( he laughs). Check this. See the top of my head? You can still see the lines I had cut in my hair that day. :lol2:
WTF

What a puff. Get yourself a No. 1!!! No Compromise.

Ahem, you can poke that no.1 or unguarded clippers crap up your arse flipa Try King of Shaves shaving gel, ( Wiliknson Sword shaving foam pot, Wilkinson Sword shaving brush ) Gillette Mach 3 ( non-turbo ) 1/2 hour in the bath ( at least 2 mins soaking ) then pat dry and apply Kos Moisturiser. Repeat every 2-3 days. :smug:
Now that's what I call a haircut - when I have the money for razor blades - at the moment ( 5 days before pay rise ) I am a grade 3 Hippy sad
I used to take ages over my hair, when I was a much younger. I always had the parting on the right. I have been going bald for the last 10 years and these days I have a grade 1.5 all over. Very easy to wash and keep clean though if my hairline recedes any further, I'll be combing the hairs round my arse!
Theres a rule regarding men and their hair.....
the less hair men have the longer they need to spend on it. biggrin

Now I picture you with Play-Doh hair  confused
Mr Redbird spends zero amount of money at the barbers as he has a shaven head and does it himself. So I feel justified in spending his share of the hairdressing expenses on moi hehehe!
bought myself a pair of clippers
not enough hair to mess about with anyway
i love a nice clean, tanned, trendy, groomed young man it shows they look after themselves and i want to wisk them away to my cubard so i can tie them up and use them at my leasure

I just went and got my hair dyed from a white/grey/dark brown to an all over jet black for £40, so the new question is What's the most you've ever paid for a haircut?

Just hair-cut, or colour and style as well?
Think it worked out to about £200 after my home colour went wrong and it took the proffesionals to sort it out. Should have gone to them in the first rolleyes
Won't make that mistake again. Now my hair cost me £110 every 2 months.
only had my hair cut twice since i started growing it which was free from my lovely gay mate.
but seeing my ex this morning and seeing her gorgeous cut i think i might have to treat meself at tete a tete.
i paid a tenner many many years ago for a perm 10 years old i think i was. and all the boys took the piss something rotten. no wonder i got bullied rolleyes

Well, a trip to the hairdressers then since there's so many different options.
£200!! Would have been cheaper to have a full hair transplant, lol.
