Can anyone tell me why head and facial hair will untimately keep growing whilst body and pubic hair seem to grow to an almost specific length and appear to stop?

This is my best guess and it's not very technically detailed, so I'm sure that someone else can give a better answer but this is what I know about hair lol

All hair has a life span and when it reaches the end of its life span it dies and falls out.
That's why some people can grow their hair (head hair) longer than other people - their hair has a longer life span.
So hair on different parts of the body just has a different length of life.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that body hair grows in cycles. So a new hair will grow for a certain period then fall out and be replaced by another new hair. We don't notice it as hairs around the one that has fell out are in different growth cycles and so we don't get bald patches. They only grow to that length as this is the length they get to before dying and falling out.
I have no idea why hair on the head and face is different?

here's one for the pubic hair lovers out there.. Imagine if pubic hair didn't stop at a certain length and grew like the hair on your head :eeek:
