Never to be one to shy away from a "sensitive" subject... Who here has seen the film and what do people think about it? Its ramifications... topics of conversations etc
I saw it last wednesday............
I personally thought that the acting was FANTASTIC... the camera work was AMAZING
however.......
Is it acceptable to show a film that effectively glorifies "Vigilantism"
At the end of the film I honestly didnt care whether the guy had commited the crime, i thought that the girl was much more evil!
How would the girl have known that the other guy or the main guy commited the crimes from internet chatrooms
Were the emotions and thought processes used by a "14 year old girl" true to life?
Would a 14 year old know how to track down a person via the internet (to an actual address)
If she could convince the main guy of X then why couldnt she convince the woman that came round
Anyways... please remember one quote
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." -Aristotle
Its on my *to see* list.........
An yes....I think some 14yr olds have the ability to track down people if they really want to!
As to chatrooms.... its amazing how much information people actually give out without realising.
I used to do chatroom safety with young people.... so they know what information NOT to give out. Im glad most of these chatrooms that were accessable to young peeps have now gone....
So, back to the film, you think its worth seeing then eh?
xanaisx
It's on my to see list as well so I'll try and remmber to come back to this once I've seen it.
The review I read said the acting was sterling, particularly by the young girl.

I was going to go and see it but my sister and her fiance said what a load of tosh it was! I may still watch it but think I'll wait til it comes out on DVD.
We went to see it a couple of weeks ago. Thought it was crap lol
Was annoying because we'd read lots of reviews beforehand that all raved about it. Oh well - just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything you read lol
is kira knightly in hard candy then? i didnt think she was.....
Good but over-rated. Also, it's marketed as a mainstream horror - which it's not. This is a low budget indie film that's quite clever and disturbing. One critic (Mark Kermode) described it as a 'date movie' lol: "take your boyfriend to see it and enjoy watching him squirm haha".
I think it's more serious as a work of art than in any examination of the issues, even though it gains momentum by at least appearing to advocate an extreme response. It dangles the ethical conundrum by not letting you be quite sure how much he is what she says he is for quite a while.
Just noticed our ad doesn't work when you click on 'ad' at the end of the messages. Done my brain in trying to find out how to work all the knobs and buttons. Anyone who's interested it's here:

Enjoyed the film, and I think the whole point is its ment to be ambigous so you can make up your own mind on who the villain is. Going to go and see Pirates but its Superman I can't wait for, ohh and if you get the chance go see Happy Endings saw it at Cambridge Film festival very funy and quite clever in places.
