Well, let's face it, every other major climate change seems to be attributed to it!
But - have we had 3 weeks of 'full moons' or something!
It seems to be one major rant (tm neilinleeds 2004) after another at the moment.
Looking at many of the threads though it seems more like a lot of little misunderstandings which then lead onto personal arguments..
Where is the fun and laughter going? In fact - where has it gone????
It was only a couple of weeks ago when many of us met up at the NW Munch - such a wonderful evening. Now, many of the regs are staying away or just not bothing to post. After speaking to a couple or three today it all seems to be down to the same reasons.
1 The proliferation of 'Aren't I wonderful' threads and the resultant sycophantic replies
and
2 The constant bickering and judging which seems to be going on and on and on at the moment
Sorry if I sound a little naffed off - it's because I am.
I love this site with a passion and I love my friends on here. I feel very protective of it and them. And I am very sad when I know many valued and articulate and funny people are not posting. The forum is the worse for their abstinence.
I would just ask people to start thinking a little more before they post in a serious thread. Check to see if can be misinterpretted. If you feel offfended by something someone has said - think again - could YOU have misinterpretted something? Check with that person by PM perhaps - maybe they didn't realise how their post could have come across.
Start reading between the lines maybe.
Now I am not say we should not have debates in here - debates are healthy and we can all learn a lot by reading and participating but PLEASE do not let it get personal.
Well by my normal standards this is a mammoth post for me, so .... and I have said this before......

On a personal level (Mods hat off) it's the sycophantic ones which really turn me off. But, hey, one mans' meat and all that.

I don't want to engage in navel gazing but can I just reinforce what Alex said about thinking before you post on a serious thread. I stuck a jokey post on a serious thread the other day and upset two people who I respect enormously. I feel something has been lost as a result which pisses me off with me!
It is easy to get carried away sometimes but if you enter a thread try gauging the atmosphere (Global warming again!) before breaking forth.
I couldn't agree more about the self absorbed nature of some of the threads. unfortunately I fear the perpetrators are the least likely to realise it.

If you are refering to this thread being of a serious nature 'that of global warming affecting the mood of the forum' then you and I differ.
Also if someone takes offence to something I say and it changes the relationship I have with that person (as you said happend to you) then that relationship was always going to change - it was just a matter of time.
The thing I find amusing is that this thread is about the mood of the forum and it appears that you are chastising ppl for being jovial - unbelievable..!!!
Also this topic was debated about a week ago - and the topic got locked.
So maybe you might want to 'try gauging' that......

TE admitted to what he considers to be a mistake he made and hints at the consequences - at least he is big enough to be open abut this and shows that he has feelings and respect for people on here. Maybe I did misinterpet what TE meant - its certainly not beyond the realms of possibility!
But as for petty sniping - I resent that.
I have not sniped at anyone.
And I reiterate what I said to TE about being chastised for making jovial comments - or does this forum now frown on humour.
You made a comment about 'global warming' affecting the forums mood - I feel that was a lighthearted remark just as my comment about 'mercury being in retrograde cycle' was.
So I fail to see the harm there.
And it would appear that TE fell out with some ppl over a posting of his (I am not aware of the incident) - and my original comment remains, that if someone is willing to 'fall out' with you over a posting then they might not have been worth 'falling in with' in the first place.
Now in the spirit of love, peace and forum harmony I suggest we take any further responses to the PM's
