Well i hAte to say if but they will know what they are talking about if it costs anything near what it would to replace then your better off just buying a new one outright
It might be worth contacting the manufacturer, especially if it's only just out of guarantee.
If it's something that's naturally broken (as opposed to a whoopsy ie dropped it), then ask them if this is a known fault with them, and how best to get it repaired etc.
As xfannyx said, paying to get it fixed might not be a viable option cos monitors have come down in price so much these days. So if you do go down the repair route, make sure you get a quote before they fix it.
Good luck, bluddy annoying for you :therethere:

LOL @ Missy - pmsl here ....anyone who knows Bull St knows that it is most famous for 2 Adult shops within a few doors of each other. The stores inbetween tend to get overlooked but there is a good little P.C. repair store there............I used to get discount at one of the Adult stores !!!!!!!!!!!!

lp
closest one i could recommend isn't that close, just outside Telford. They are rather good though

Don't, unless you're qualifeid.
The HT circuitry can retain several thousand volts even when off, unless you discharge it correctly you could kill yourself. Even worse when it's switched on.
Trust me, i am qualified

Blondes-R-Us wink
The most common fault on a flat screen mointor is not the screen itself, but the switch mode power supply that supplies the electronics.
A power supply fault can be fixed fairly cheeply, (very if your a electrical enginer, like sparky my other half lol)
Alternatively, if you happen to drop it while taking it upstairs to put it away, your house insurance may well cover replacement? Worth bearing in mind if you are clumsy.
Hiya DD

Hi
There is Morgan Computers (PM'd you) who can help, there not too far from you either based in Brierley Hill.
Hope this helps.
P.S. didn't realise about the numbers, sorry.
Speedy, you're not supposed to post 'phone numbers on forum. You'd be better off sending all that information by PM and editing your post.
we just paid £280 for a 17 inch lappy screen for a acer aspire
