I have just had a pop up come on my screen, which said "this call is not free, it involves international dialing rates. please confirm yes or no.
Naturally i pressed no
downloaded adaware to see if there was anything on my computer. but everytime i try and run it i get a shutdown screen and my computer counts down 60 seconds before restarting..
i have tried to do a system restore to 6 different dates, but it continually tells me system cannot restore to this date.
1. any advice would be very welcome.
2. how can i find out if i have a dialler on my computer. this happened to me about 6 years ago when one of my kids downloaded a dialer and i had a £350+ phone bill
i'm paniking now in case i am on a a min dial up rate....
The BEST way is to have premium call barring put in place by BT (it's free) - that way no-one can ever call premium numbers, including your PC.
If you then use another telephony provider (ie 1899 or some such) YOU can get round the bar if you wish by using an access code but your PC can't.
cool
Another good bet would be to get off the internet rolleyes and disconnect the modem cable.
Run your anti virus software if you have a dialler, spyware isn't powerful enough to deal with it usually.
That actually sounds a bit like a blaster worm, my advice is look at the windows site and read up removal tips

Thats a link to the site
thanks all...
contacted bulldog and have barred all premium rate numbers.
went onto microsoft and downloaded 9 critical updates.
i know this thing is still in my computer, wil have to give it to the it techos in work to sort it out, and prey they find nothing dodgey redface surprisedops:
