How do you insert a picture when your replying to a post on the forum??
There is a ''img'' button but it seems to only write something on the screen.
Please help
Dave
Ps. sorry to be complete thicko
same here mate
i dont get it either
so perhaps not as thick as you first thought
You need to have the picture 'hosted' somewhere on the internet first, like imageshack
O.K. if it's yer own picture then get it hosted. If it's something thats already available then right click the picture, go down to properties click on that and then copy and paste the url into your post, then highlight that address on your post and click on the image tab. Just remember if the picture isnt yours then it might be subject to copyright.
thanks everyone...... i think i'll leave it!!!!! lol
It is reasonably easy peeps smile What you need to do is get the picture hosted on the internet, then you put the link to the picture between the tags. Like HTML there is a start tag, and an end tag for images and this is what gets put in when you press the img button. On the first click you get the start, next click the end.
i.e.
link to image here
the / indicates the end tag. Anything between is expected to be the link to the pic which must be an internet site, not on your pc!
Ok so how do you get the pic on the internet? There are some nice free hosting sites out there that do this for you, some even give you the correct text to put into your post, like imageshack for example:
You simply browse to your picture on your computer and press host it. You will then go to a page with lots of links, copy the text in the first one into your post and press preview, if it shows ok you are done :) Otherwise try the other ones in order.
Why the different text? Not all message boards use the same format you see, and they give you a couple of options on how you want the pic displayed, as a small thumbnail, or full size for example.
It sounds complex but once you get the hang of it it is not really to bad. Any problems PM me and we can work through them.
