For this site the best advice i can give ya is spend some time reading the posts in here and the LMU.
Get a feel for the characters on the site, every one of us has a sense of humour, but every one varies in its make up, once you think you have the measure, start posting in some threads, give some opinions, and most of all, just be yourself, give folks a chance to form an oppinion of you.
as for the swinging scene
you just never stop learning but there are loads of sites with ‘all about swinging’ sections on, including this one, its just a matter of doing a bit of research

Have a wee gander through the chat rooms as well, have a look for one in your area, or the kind of things you're into, and if you don't find one, then start a room of your own and start getting to know people from that.
You can also get a mentor to help you- some clever person will post a link as I only remembered about that now, and can't be arsed to go find it!
