This might be a really boring, sensible suggestion but has he tried the patches?
They're expensive but he can get them on prescription. I did it in March last year and the doctor was reluctant to give me them without going to the smoking cessation clinicy thing but the first appointment they could give me was for May. She suggested I cut down until then but after advising her that I'd already stopped and asked if she was suggesting I start again she was pretty sharp in dishing out a script!
Worth a try cause I found they did work and I didn't notice being more irritable than normal... but then I'm a chick so I guess that's a given!

To be fair Smoking is the pits but giving up smoking is the pit of pits, hidden inside a pit guarded by the pit fiend of pitland. I gave up smoking 16 mths and still looking up from the bottom of the pit. I wanna fag i do iu do i do but i guess i won't.
Truly though i do feel better most of the time, it is so worth it.
Bear with him blonde it will be worth your!!! while in the end you betcha!.
Oh yeah, and one of the "BENEFITS" me myself and I has got out of it is that my DAUGHTER!! is probably going on a school "SKIING!!!!" trip sometime, costing me £££££££'s!!!!!!! not meaning that i am in anyways BITTER!! about this of course

Dear Sam, I'm sorry but I'm afraid you have months of this... I gave up smoking 4 years ago and the 18 months following were the worst in my entire life. I was depressed, angry, I felt like I'd lost something really special. I know non-smokers may not be able to relate but to be it was hell. I drank a bottle of wine every night for the first 3 months, put on over a stone then another the three months following that. BUT, I had smoked over 25 cigs a day so that may have contributed to it.
Now, happily I'm fine. I still crave one now and then. He is doing the best thing ever and it's gr8 he has your support petal. I too had that support and that really helped.
I know I've prob. been of no assistance to you whatsoever but thought I'd warn you about months to come.

Iv'e said it before.... It's all in the head and will pass, both should severely concentrate on the good things thats happening too.. Easy said I know but is soooo worth all this grief.
Trust me nothing will be as painful as being told you have cancer or knowing your never going to loose that cough.. It WILL pass he will feel better and you will have more money to boot.
