:bounce: :bounce: Yippee I just booked our summer frollicks. Can't wait!!!!
redface Sorry, could hardly put it in the steam room though could I.
Eerrmm confused ooh I know :!: What's best in your opinion :?: booking a week before you go or booking 11 months in advance in terms of enjoyment and lead up factor.
Me first. It has to be the late booking for me as I have an impulsive nature and if I booked 11 months in advance I would find a million reasons why I did'nt want to go there or something else more pressing to do on that particular date or worse something better to spend the money on. This way there's no time to change my mind.

Best solution is to live by the sea like me so you always feel like you're on holiday lol
I do live near the sea :smug: rotflmao I just like abit of guaranteed sun now and then lol
I usually book late because I can never get my act together in time to book early. biggrin
Mrs Kiss and I usually book our summer holiday in advance but book another one at the last minute, either for Easter or October half-term.
I love knowing months in advance when and where I'm going on holiday, it just makes the pleasure last longer. lol
Today I managed to buy some 'Prince' tickets as he's one of Mrs Kiss' idols. The gig isn't until September but it's another event to write on the calender to look forward to!

smackbottom Now get out of my thread and let all these people who are queuing have a go :giggle:
I like knowing that I have a big holiday booked it means that I will save the money for it.
Doing that also means that I can count the weeks until I have a guaranteed rest.
I also have mini hols throughout the year which are last minute and totally indulgent. eg next weekend am off on a city break with 'wor lass' top hotel and a comfy bed.

Oh I see :!: please see signature surprisedops:
With having the kids I've always booked a year in advance so I know we can get discounts etc as it can be expensive for a family, plus I know roughly what I need to save each month.
We once booked a late deal to Turkey ie., 3 days before but we'd saved for a while and knew that was the week we'd be going on holiday so started looking online the week before, it was great only cost us for a week for 3 of us. lol
I still love the looking at brochures and choosing for the next year, we currently have brochures for 2008 right now! cool
I always book late and that way you are surprised (or horrified) when you get there.
Had a great last minute trip to China and a terrible last minute trip to Corfu.
Been for two long weekends abroad in the last month and both were fantastic. One to Gibraltar (where I wouldn't have gone otherwise) and one to Portugal. Both cost a pittance and were 4 star hotels?
I once had a 12 person villa to myself in Greece for two weeks and rang 8 friends who got last minute flights and joined me. Now that was good fun!
Oh I'm terrible I like to organise my holiday down the the last detail so its months of planning.
One year we went to France and I planned a day in Giverny. I love Monet's work so decided we would visit his home there. I researched it so well I knew that it was closed on Tuesday. We arrived at Giverny on Monday night and a load of American's were there saying they were going up to the house. I tried to tell them it would be closed but they ignored me.
Were they impressed when I was proved right but totally pissed off cause they had wasted a whole day getting there for nothing.
I've printed out maps of cities and details of museum opening times etc and found out about local shows that run when we are scheduled to be there, so we maximise the fun we have.
Seems a long way to go and then spend half the time trying to find your way, or whats on, while you are there. We usually get a head start on all the other tourists with all my organising.
DD :smug:
I love the planning & the getting excited- but I'm also pretty impulsive & would love to book last minute. See, Gemini! rolleyes
Hope you guys have an absolutely fab time- you have to PM me to let me know where you're going though! passionkiss
Generally I have a quite impulsive nature and so rarely know what I'm doing in 2 days time let alone 2 months time lol I don't like to have things planned out and don't think I've ever booked a holiday with more than a few weeks notice. I did once go out for Lunch with a friend and then wake up the next morning in Barcelona confused since then I only carry my passport with me if I really need to and make sure I don't meet up with friends who are equally impulsive when I have it with me :lol2:
The last 6 years we have booked in the week prior to going and had some fantastic and I mean fantastic deals.. if your not stuck to one place or type then you will get a deal..
Example..
2 weeks 5 star in Thailand followed by another 2 weeks different island at the most stunning hotel with a private island with free long tail boat transfer, 7 pools an electric cable car to take you around infinity pools etc etc etc Oh reception in floating pontoons in pools of water that catch fire at night lol...including internal flights all transfers from Bangkok with bed and breakfast all for £800 quid or so.. (Each) Thats a Month away 5 star!! Brouchure cost from Kuoni just over £3,000 each.. Defo bargain to wait.
Penang.. Malaysia, 21 nights 5 star again (Genuine 5 star too) with all transfers and bed and breakfast again £700 or so...
More to go on about but all from Kuoni abta bonded same as the brouchure no catches no quibbles just cheaper... go the same week sort of thing..
Its fun anyway.. Not knowing which what or where..
Mike xx
We book a long time in advance because we can never find anywhere big enough for a decent price if we leave it to late.
We are currently booking next years holiday before we even go on this years :lol2:
i dont book holidays ful stop.
hate going away.
hate forward planning, the min a make a plan or date i feel mild anxiety about it.
ive been away a few times and it has to be booked last min.
if i ever get married it would have to be spur of the moment, could never stand all that planning.
i love christmas but get panicked leading up to it lol

And we will send you a postcard- honest! :rascal:
We just came back from holiday this week and ive got the brochures out ready to look for next years one. I always like to plan our holidays. I love to have something to look forward to and so do the kids. Its also a good thing booking early as it give us time to pay it off and save up as it does cost a small fortune taking three kids away. Ohh and dont forget the free child places biggrin

On a more serious note though, the free child places annoy me greatly because they inflate the prices of the paying passengers to cover the cost of them

Who needs a free child tho Louise? 1 was always enough for me. Do you have to keep this free child permanently or just for the holiday? Oh and what is a holiday anyway?

Also to think of it, you dont really save that much after they have added all the fuel costs, supplements and the crappy in-flight meals that wouldnt feed a mouse rolleyes

I hear ya banghead
I always book in advance so I can organise everything. I don't like doing anything on the last minute and I get really excited writing it on my calendar and in my diary and beginning the countdown biggrin
thinking of booking a hol soon & have been googling all afternoon.
just a quick question if I may? Has anyone had a decent holiday through the holiday auction sites? They look an absolute bargain but are they?
