Thank you Cherry, there's nothing like a Cherry hug wink
I have only skimmed this thread and i am neither for or against home learning. All depends on circumstances.
What is nice to see, is that fire, is looking at her childs needs. So many parents think that education starts and stops in school.
Hope you get things sorted Fire and keep kicking arse kiss
Thank you folks...I can assure you that arses will be kicked and phones will ring and that they WILL help her :borg:

We had an appointment today with daughters school. It was supposed to be an appointment to see the head master. We spent most of the appointment with the head of year and the key stage 3 co-ordinator making excuses for the reason that things have'nt been done over the last two years re her being tested for dyslexia and dyspraxia and about 5 minutes where the head came in and said "oh that all seems to be sorted out then" and then swiftly departed to go on to another meeting.
They have now looked at her results in tests and at her last report figures and have decided that there is definitely reason to believe that she may have both conditions. This is supposed to be a school of excellence for dyslexia and despite the fact that I have been asking for nearly two years they have only just, after we insisted on seeing the head, deigned to look and see if there is a problem......
To say I am fuming is an understatement. I half wanted to cry when they told me there is probably a problem but the other half wanted to say maybe we can help her now instead of calling her lazy, disruptive and uninterested.sad
They have told us they will push for the tests to be done next week so we can see to what degree she has the condition/s so again we will wait and see......
This should perhaps be in the steamroom but if I go in there, there are so many other things I am raging about that I would be in there all night evil

Further to this post which occurred last Friday I rang the school yesterday to find out whether we were on target for the test to be done this week.
I got a call back from the school's special needs department and was told this:
"I don't understand why you are waiting for a dyslexia test Mrs Fire ? Your daughter has been on our dyslexia register since last year"??
So I have, for the last however many months been pushing for someone to take us seriously and stop putting my daughter on report and start taking notice of her difficulties, only to find that she is on their dyslexia register but none of the teachers had been given this information. Her head of year was not aware either and also the key stage 3 co ordinator didn't know
To say I am furious is an understatement. She has been getting into trouble for being distracted, being distracting, forgetting things like homework, ingredients for cooking and PE kit for the last 6 months and I now feel like the worlds worst mother because if I had the courage of my convictions I would have helped her more instead of half believing that she was being purely lazy. :(
Fecking school mad
I would be totally hopping mad!
I would also be asking why the teachers etc haven't been informed as well you both!
Hope it all works out for your daughter Fire and things get moving! kiss
