Could the "demise" of the SH forum be, in part, related to improvements in other areas of the site? When the forum was at the height of it's popularity I don't remember there being any cams in chat. Whereas new members used to head straight to the forum when they joined, now they head straight for chat. In fact, IIRC you needed two IDs to access what were, in effect, two separate halves of the same site.
Also, perhaps forums on other sites are busier because the other areas are weaker? I say perhaps because I don't have any active IDs on other sites so I can't talk from experience.
What do you think?

Personally I think the forum has always been a minute part of the site with a very small per centage of site members actually using it. Even back in 2005-6 when the forums were way busier I am guessing that only 2% of site users were using the forum dunno

Its never been the sites most popular area.
Only a very occasional chat user here but from what I know the main improvements are in the amount of cams you can view and the size you can view them at plus being able to watch cams in various rooms. This all suits people who like to watch for whatever reason. I dont think those people would have been natural forum members before the cam chat existed?
I think part of the reason forums on other sites are busier is because people have moved. So you simply get the posts you once had here over there. That said I would still say the per centage of people using the forum on the other site is still a very low amount of the actual site members. I am on two other sites one I rarely log into the other the chat seems fine to me :dunno: again only a very occasional user.

I am so glad Max that you consider my campaigning to be of such a high level that I was able to convince admin to merge the forums :smug: I must admit I am the universe's law on how to make friends and influence people :lol2: My popularity and level of sway is probably second to none rotflmao

Admitedly the merging of the JFF forum into here was probably a bad idea in hindsight at the time it was done. However fast foreward to now and where have all the JFF threads gone? We seemed to be burried in them at one time after all there was a forum full of them which is now represented by just three threads biggrin

It proves the point I have made in other threads that a sub forum title directly effects the posts within it. Now that there is no JFF the will to create new JFF type threads seems to have vanished. The Cafe forum may still not be busy but I think it has a good mixture of content.
All in all as far as I am concerned it has not worked out the badly after all :mrgreen:

I think you need to get a better grip on reality Max. Anyone who has been here any amount of time knows that moaning by one or two people wont get anything changed. It was more than a few call it moaning if you will and then the question was asked by admin. If I remember correctly there was a discussion about removing the Introduce yourself forum, discussion about merging the CA and the JFF into the Cafe. As we can all see JFF and Introduce yourself were merged CA was left where it was. Open forum debate not people moaning.
If you had actually bothered to read any of my posts properly recently you can see in fact I am not moaning about the forum. All I have done is express an opinion on the differences of the forum now and in the past. I did not say I prefered it then or now I just said it was busier then. Ive stated a few times lately that although this is quieter it suits me fine as it is right now :D

Being honest I remember posting on threads about forum mergers I dont recall marching about with a banner about it though dunno

Sure I made my point clear whatever the case. I have looked up the relavent thread and there were far more votes on the issue than just mine or flowers, community decision regardless of who brought it up.
If you think it was Flower or I or a combination of both that brought around a change in the layout of the forums all on our lonesome then fine! continue to be deluded.

I've been reading this thread since yesterday, and as a noobie simply digested the atmosphere without interference.
But now I have to chip in my penny's worth.
Is the whole object of the forum to allow people to express their individual points of view?
I cannot commenton the past, but it seems there is life out here. A four page thread already kinda proves that, don't you think?

There are 3 types of people here in my humble opinion (not that I own the site or anything) bad ones, good ones and the ones that pretend to be good ones.
