hiya
for those who like hot tubs or spas
what do you suggest.
number of persons?
size?
manufacture?
extras?
reccomendations for suppliers
we have a lay z spa but would only recomend this if you didnt have the finances to get the built in more robust kind.
they are good for what they are and that is a blow up deep paddling pool, with air blown in and heated.
for more robust use, ie a lot of splashing about, be that the kids jumping in n out or people playing in it at a swing party then there is going to be a difference in the lay z spa and a robust built in spa.
we have already had to get the heater/blower repaired a couple of times due to how it is used :giggle:
tell you what how about coming over and trying ours out to see if it is something you would really like in your garden.... winter time is fun cos of the steam you can hardly see the other side of the shed we built around the spa lol
Karrob,
Depends on space and budget to be honest.
Several already mentioned layzee spa ones, i.e. the inflatable ones you see, which are a good start to see how much use you'lll actually make of one and the benefits rather than a big spend for something little used.
Top tip with the inflatable ones is to place on top of matting type insulation so as to help reduce running costs, especually during the winter, we did after 1st use to do the periodic empty down/clean and after noticed circa 50% lower weekly cost.
As for the more permanant tubs/spa's then look out for such things as guarantees on the actual shell and pumps as well as online research to see what people actually think of the one's they've had. It's usually worth trying to avoid those that use chlorine as this is one of the few chemicals that 'attacks' stainless steel so you'll likely run into issues after a period of time.
One of the biggest companies about, circa 70,000 every year, is Sundance Spas (part of Jacuzzi) though there are others. Must admit the UK importer is our local dealer and being circa 5 minutes away has proved very helpful with aftercare, usually free of charge.
As for size, then how many will be using it ?
Most good dealers will also have several up & running and let you try before you buy, you wouldn't buy a car without a test drive would you ?
Your probably coming into the best time of year to start looking arounds as prices start to drop from early October onwards, especially if they are doing their annual manufacturer order for the following year and need warehouse & showroom space, plus as coming into winter not as many people buying so £2-3,000 discounts possible over normal spring/summer prices.
Oh and remember inflatable ones usually run off a standard 13amp supply so features limited compared with a permanent one that'll probably need a 30amp separate supply, so this and a proper 5 inch concrete base will need factoring into your costs.
Hope this helps
thanks for the reply and informative answers.
looking for a 6 person one ideally but must also be comfy with room.
was looking at the swim/spa ones as well.
