To form an opinion on a topic or issue I believe the following!
By reading newspapers or watching the news is just an item or report based on that one person’s interpretations of that item or topic.
To gather ones own opinion is to question and listen to others views research such issues see whats happened before, gather facts from all sorts of resources only then in my opinion can we gathered enough facts to form our own opinion.
But I do find a lot of people are unable to gather their own opinion as they believe totally what they have read, or seen by a couple of resources.
But there are a lot here that have an opinion but keep an open mind, we read what others say and think.
I like to think others can help me change my opinion as we don’t know all the facts and sometimes what people say can make me see something in a different light that I haven’t thought of before.
We all form our opinions in different ways and we are all entitled to do so.
How do you form an opinion?
Are you open to change you opinion?

good point...
so how do you take someone who says " your entilted to your opinion, but mine is right"?
I don't believe anyone can always be right.
Unless is it is a proven and tested fact.
So people that say that I just see as not being able to boarden their mind! wink
I think you are being charitable....rolleyes
I don't think I am being charitable,
I know of one person that thinks he is right, as I have said openly before I think he is delusioned. lol
People do have more that one side about them, from what you see in here.
In here you see more of my serious side my innermost feelings and thoughts etc.
Where in Chat rooms my happy fun and a laugh side comes out. All what you see is me just strange how the two different me comes out in two different places.

If one opens their mind then opinions can change... but people hold steadfast for a number of different reasons... some of which defy logic!!
I would hope I have an open mind, I believe I have, I read what everyone says and I think about their responses, but in life I have also met people that are stuck in their ways so hard to budge, I can understand this as I have a Mother like me and a Father that is stuck in his ways, I just think they have a much more victorian approach to life, it is a bit like being stuck in a time warp! lol
You say.."I don't believe anyone can always be right.

i agree with the first part... no one can always be right wink .... but i think you have to expand the final bit.
Facts can be tested... but an "opinion" is only another word for "interpretation" of what they actually tend to infer.

Sorry I went off on a brach here and thought when would I believe someone is right!
My mind drifted to Isaac Newton for example he must of formed an opinion about gavity he must of questioned then proved it to be a fact.
Sorry my mind diverses at times, I don't expect others to understand me. lol

One fact on its own doesnt prove much... there needs to be a few together to support an , more than inference or interpretation is often possible based on any given (substantiated) fact.
Hope I have answered your points and that is makes some sense! lol

I can handle that, this is cyber crap. What I do not like is someone then taking it a step further by pm'ing me away from the forum.

you have done this to me before... i still have it in my inbox.... i will dig it out for you

He had also something about not replying in a minute, but using that time to think about his comments, well talk about not doing what you say you are going to do.

another misrepresentation..

As for going down to my level, come and join me...it's nice and warm here.

no thank you.... i dont want to put myself back 20 years...

Dont appologise Deecee, as it is not sincere, and if you cannot debate without slagging someone off, then may I make a suggestion and not post.

thank you for the heads up...i might just do that... along with everyone else that would love to tell you what they think but cant.
Quote by kentswingers777
Of course this is always only my opinion. Also I do not hold grudges, and I hope Deecee we can put this behind us, and continue to discuss and debate and sometimes get a tad angry with each other, on other threads.

The pm I sent you was a nice pm..dig it out.
Anyone is open to tell me what they think I am that bothered?
Obviously even though I have said forget it and move on, you won't. I always thought you was a intelligent guy, now I know exactly the kind of person you are...a person who holds a grudge..so be it. I have said in a lot of threads when it has got heated for people to chill out, not do the nasty stuff, the personel attacks, as I know I have done that before but it serves no purpose.
You I am afraid are as guilty as me and nearly everyone else here, who has made others not want to post. Even the lovely splendid who rarely agrees with me has made her point, still if you do not want to see that what you said was wrong, then who carse..cos I dont.
BTW have a nice weekend anyway.

it makes sense.
With your Isaac Newton example i see it as follows..
he questioned what made the apple fall from the tree.
he didnt prove gravity exists.. he showed a way of explaining it (through experiment and formula) , and called it gravity. But surely it is still just a theory??
it doesnt prove the truth of things.
another factor of what makes an apple fall from the tree... is nature.
Newton showed the force which keeps things drawn to earth... and was able to theorise it.
he was also , as all scientists were then as indeed they are now... bound by the rules of "scientific theory" which postulates that theory is only theory and not proof.
I can point you to some good resources if you like...
OK fact might have been the wrong word to use. But hopefully you get my point. wink

i completely got your point... im not being argumentative with you. I want to discuss the topic with are obviously interested in the mechanics of it... as I am....

my outburst from before is over! lol

You know what?,,,,So do I at times. At least he argued with a lot of rationality, and a good degree of common sense.
We did not get on in the forums, but at least I knew exactly what side of the fence the guy was on. cool
Hmm I think this thread might be on its last legs ... so I'll give it a final push ...
On many subjects I judge I don't have enough information to form my own opinion . But on those subjects I'm passionate about, I blend "me" as a person with what I read, and (subconsciously I guess) weigh things up, and express my view. I may not be right - but I'm happy in how I got there - more a signpost than a weather vane.
And I'm sure most of us do the same thing - if we all thought alike mad what fun would there be. biggrin
uhhuuuu ahhaaaaa and who said the forum is boring, this is what i call entertainment,i hope they wouldnt find the locking key for this or is this thread still a joke

I am interested in the mechanics of the mind, as it is here we form opinions, ideas, how we act react etc
The mind to me is a complex place I like to ask questions and see how others think how they react etc.
I enjoy watching how they react to a question how they communicate etc
To me it is fascinating to watch as we are all so different and respond and act in different ways.
I just find people fascinating they entertain me, make me think, make me angry at times, but it is how we all react is the most fascinating of all.
I often wonder why someone thinks the way they do, why they responded the way they did, how they formed an opinion etc.
But also I see the mind as something that can constantly be reprogrammed a bit like a computer really.
Damn I think my mind is going a little adrift here loon

I got a little side-tracked and took my eye off the ball.
my outburst from before is over! lol

I did wonder why you both reacted the way you did. wink lol

He done the nurture nature series, that was facinating to.
What is the new one called?
I form an opinion by studying the situation, I am open to consultation and will reconsider.
When I only have time to react,, that is what I do, react. If I have meditated on the subject in question long enough my opinion is represented by my reaction. If not it is just what my mind thinks worked last time.

Its called the "human mind"
Well it seems to me that Right-wingers form an opinion by ignoring what's going on around them and just rely on a combination of their rose-tinted memories and a vision of what they would actually prefer and think should be the case.
Welcome back Peanut!
You have been missed.
