Well it seems to me that Right-wingers form an opinion by ignoring what's going on around them and just rely on a combination of their rose-tinted memories and a vision of what they would actually prefer and think should be the case.

welcome back peanut!
Missed your posts!
Before answering a question here or responding to a thread. I like to carefully read all of the previous posts, once maybe twice. Then I surf the net. BBC, SKYnews, Wikipedi and research my subject carefully and thoroughly.
Then I just post the first bollox that comes into my head

Sorry ...but I think you`ll find that`s more likely to be bigots ...whether they be right or left wing .
No need to be sorry as that also sums up an awful lot of right-wingers too,

Surely politics shouldn't make a differance on someones opinion. There should be many factors involved in forming one. dunno
I suppose that is why I confuse so many! wink

How do you form an opinion?
Are you open to change you opinion?

I believe that John Maynard Keynes put it wonderfully.
"When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?"
Individual facts in themselves do not have to change but if our factual universe changes (i.e. new facts emerge or others that we took to be facts turn out to be false) then we have an obligation to revisit our opinions that have been formed from that factual universe. I can never fathom why some people find changing your mind to be automatically wrong.

If you don't confuse "politics" with "party politics" then you'll find that personal politics are the basis for most peoples' opinions, mindsets and biases.
NB: Please note that in my original comment I used the term "right-wingers" and not "Conservatives".

Try using a tissue next time, it's much more carpet friendly.

I don`t think anybody confused right wingers with conservatives .....Just wondered why you singled out a certain group of people ..
If you had said "some people" rather than "right wingers" I think anybody would have agreed with your original statement..
If I had said "some people" it would have been an entirely different post, one I would not have intended making.
I know what I meant and why I meant it.
And unlike some I don't make posts saying things that I hope everyone will agree with. I'll leave that to the sycophants.
