It always amazes us when we are in the chat rooms, that so many folk say "shame you are so far away".
If we profile them, yes some are at the other end of the county, but many are under 75 miles! Which to me does not seem that far to travel!
So the question is, how far would you be prepared to travel, for a meet?? smile (this is a general question, and not personalised to us please)
Lucys post.
How far away are you?
lp
b****r, did not get the edit in quick enough lp!!!!! biggrin
The furthest I've travelled for an evening's fun to date is about 63 miles but will gladly do it again anytime I'm invited! redface
I think 75 miles is about my limit too unless staying for more than a few hours. If they're closer to home it makes life easier if you want to meet regularly, but too close to home is awkward if you don't!
worlass and I have travelled to Liverpool which is around 150 miles ish (we also paid for the hotel)
Mancs- 90 miles ish
Edinburgh- ummm loads of miles.
B'ham.... flippin miles away.
London..... loads and loads of miles.
Singularly I have travelled to all of the above places too. Mainly to meet Single men...
I make sure that there are places that I want to see too so that it isn't a wasted journey if we are sexually incompatible.
136 miles to meet someone off this site for one night. This takes 3 hours driving (with a coffee stop) so I do not think 3 hours is too much

We've discussed this, and for the right (lucky rolleyes ) lady, I don't think distance would be an issue - sod it, book hotel, make a weekend of it and do some shopping biggrin :D
For someone lovely, we have driven for 2 hours, and he the same to us!
Well worth the drive!!

If staying away and going shopping was an option open to me I'd consider the person(s) before the number of miles. Unfortunately at the moment I always have to come home the same night (or morning! lol )
We mainly met day times around the children so we couldn't travel that far. We have gone 40 miles but living in London took us almost 2 hours to get there.
So for us it really isn't about distance but how long it will take to get there.
The odd times we have had a free night we have stuck with guys we have already met before.
Yes, thats a good angle on it minx, its the time element really, not just the distance!
That dratted London traffic! smile
This is a relatively small country really and my being based in Leicester places me in a nice central position lol.
Furthest I've traveled for a meet is about 150 miles and I would go further for the right person/people - its got to be worth it surely???
I've flown from London to Glasgow, as well as driven. Thats not the norm though. When doing searches on the website I tend to stick to 50/60 miles, but have done jounrneys futher than that.

Never done a holiday meet!
South Africa sounds good to me though! lol
Did 7,500 miles last year for a SH social event. Sadly this year it didn't happen. biggrin
if i get good vibes from e-mail/direct chat, then the old adagae of "have desire, will travel" kicks in!
living in surrey i have travelled to edinburgh, cannock, manchester, leeds, torquay, coventry, llandudno, swansea ................... and as close as esher, cobham, midhurst and egham! even amsterdam, helsinki, stockholm and new york although ny had business with it!
always travel with the adage "expect not and thou shall not be disappointed" ................ and touch wood, no disappointments so far! he grins lasciviously!!
I wouldnt travel far.
We start work early so late nights and long distance drives arent for us.
Cant keep booking hotels as we dont own bank of england.
Theres pleanty of nice peeps local.
I think its all to there own. Some are happy to travel some are not. Its personal choice.

I always say this..... I don't think people in the UK realise what a realtively small country is....so for me going from one end to the other isn't a problem.....
so where is the futhest i have traveled... north to inverness... south to bournemouth..... south west to plymouth, west to dublin!
god bless cheap planes and cheap trains......

as my name suggests travlinmanukok , i work as a courier so can usually fit in a meet when passing a particular city or town , be it sometimes not immediatly if it was quite a distance , but for me if the peeps are worth the journey then distance wherever it may be doesnt usually put me off , live in Leicester and have travelld to newcastle upon tyne before now ( wink wink you know who you are ).

Well it depends if you have a helicopter or a car lol
We tend to stick within a 40 mile radius if using the sites calculations, which is nearer 65 miles if your actually using roads, unless of course we are planning on travelling somewhere.
Having said that Aberdeen comes up as being 290 miles from us (EH48)

There is no such thing as too far away. Just not enough time to get there. IMHO of course

Until you actually make the journey. If for example the distance on the profile says 100 miles, and you decide what the hell, lets go.... And it's only when you've got there do you realise the calculation is a direct, line of sight distance, and you've actually travelled over 160 miles, then instead of a 200 mile round trip you've now driven 320 miles. Bet you wish you had allocated more time now biggrin
