First of all
I have met some great people in the last 5 weeks and been made most welcome into the comminity
Yes sometimes still feel a little uneasy in a large crowd of people i dont know and being a shy person i am someone who wont go and "barge" in on conversations
My point is that how dose one get to know other people and for other people to get to know me?
I can only speak for myself in saying that it has taken time, but the major and probably only factors in our getting to know people have been A) Don't concentrate on just who you are looking for and B) Show your personality off in the forum.
Don't get despondent either as opportunity knocks when you least expect it!
Hope that helps hun kiss
Just keep on doing what you're doing hunni, join in with the banter, don't be afraid to start your own thread ( though I bet you can't beat me for having the first 2 threads locked rolleyes ) There's no magic number of posts when you lose the 'newbie' status so sooner or later you'll feel like part of the furniture around here
I’m just the same mate, I tend to be rather shy with folks I haven’t met (that’s the real met, not the swinging “met”) It takes time for me to feel comfortable enough to join in. It’s a confidence thing, some people have it all the time, some people have it some of the time(me) and some people struggle to find it at the best of times.
As for “how do I get to know people/how do they get to know me” it takes time and a bit of patience. In the Forum just do some posts in threads. Try to pick the less contentious threads at first, don’t be confrontational respect others views etc and soon people will be used to “seeing” you about the place.
In real life, much the same
I think you stop being a newbie only when you feel like you’re not one any more.
For the record, I’m just beginning to feel like I’m fitting in, and I’ve been here for 11 months.

Thank you for your positive replies
the shyness is something that i will have to overcome in a nice way
hope to meet mnay more people soon(when finances allow) and make new friends to
there are some great people on here and yes some not so great but you do get that in all walks of live that is why we are all different
I still feel like a newbie.

Fire is being a meanie, I know who you are kiss
speaking purely for myself here Robbie, it seems to vary...
You are most certainly right that this community is very welcoming and friendly...
though this is my personal bit: i find that my own mood and circumstance can *colour* my view of the community and its members.. so there appear to be good days and days >weeks? < but all the same, the community goes on, and indeed so do we....
so a word of advice (oh gawd..advice!! from me??? disregard!!! :!: ) sometimes I (& I stress that...*I*!!!) can feel right in the middle of things, fully accepted, and everythings tickerty-boo... othertimes, a miss-read thread, or something I feel frustrated at not being able to respond to (perhaps personal reasons) can leave ME feeling very much outside the door, not only that, but way down that dark and nasty alley outside. ((oops, forgot the advice bit:in edit: if it feels like you may have moved *outside* for a while, don't worry about it.. you'll be fine!)) blimey, all that rubbish typing, just to say that! Strooth!
but thats me... loon a bit errmm... delicate at times, shall we say?.. blimey LP, for gawds sake, shut ya mouth and hurry along home!
you however, My Good man, seem to be doing a pretty good job!
and by the way, hello!
