I would say that swinging is mutual, nsa fun which is agreed by everyone it involves. If the wife didn't agree to the hubby playing away from home then that ain't swinging, its cheating.
Swinging is about trust and respect (and of course sexual activities) and if any one of those factors is missing (which it obviously was in the case of your friend) then it cant be classed as swinging.
