Hi
Been to doc's and I think I need hrt getting all the symtoms and my sister started at my age 46, was told last year stop smoking, done that, now having blood tests to prove to the doctor that I am right tut , anyhoo any ladies on here had similar problems or are using hrt or a herbal rememdy is either one better than the other.
Would love somefeedback my sister is on hrt and she swears by it ??
thanks
No personal experience but from reading about it, there are different types, different delivery systems and they have different effects.
If you start it, and it doesn't feel right, go back to the doc's and see about changing it in some way. Don't suffer thinking it must work eventually.
ty I know hun that is why I wondered about womens different experiences

I can empathise with you on this one. I started getting menopause symptoms at the age of 43 but my doc was very reluctant to put me on HRT at the time. I tried herbal remedies with no success. I went through a very bad bout of depression about 2 years ago, was off work for 3 months and ended up on Prozac for 6 months ( bloody marvellous it was too! )
I had to have a hysterectomy last September after suffering 11 years of the worst periods I could imagine and was put on HRT as they removed my ovaries too. I still get hot flushes ( or power surges as I call them now :smug: ) but it's helped me a great deal. Doc said he doesn't want me on it for more than a couple of years but I've certainly felt the benefit so far.
HRT works for some women but not for others. Herbal remedies work for some but not for others. It may be worth trying the herbal remedies first though. Try adding soya to your diet, try Starflower or St John's Wort but do get advice from the health shop as St John's Wort can't be taken with certain medication.
Good luck
Not from personal experience, but yes soya is a useful addition to the diet, but herb are not the simple, safe product some think they are. They are the source of many drugs used today, they do have real effects.
So heed Sassy's warning, seek advise.
