I still think that Simon did make some valid points, and even though I dont necesarily agree with what he is saying, at least he has taken to the time to try and suggest something that he feels would help the place.
My main disagreement with the suggestions is that they would (in my view) only benefit a certain group of site users, mainly the photo ads people, but would not necesarily make things better, easier or more enjoyable for people who use other parts of the site.
One thing that seems to be more prevalent of late, is the numerous ways in which people use this site, and I think that has been discussed a lot more of late. We all have our own favourite areas, places we feel that bit more comfortable using. Any suggestions I could make about using the site would obviously be based around how I use the place, Simon had just done exactly what any of us would do, base it around how he uses the site.

No based on when ads were last updated ( hell we not updated our ad in ages... after all, we still looking for the same thing really....) but based on when people last logged into the site.... say we could seach for people who have only logged in in the last week, fortnight, month, 3 months, or any. People might have ads that they not updated in months, we know we have... but if they have not even logged in to the site for 9 months, its probably fair to say sending them a pm wont elicit a reply! At lease with the extra search filter, we can choose not to look through these peoples ads, and nobody has to be banned or kicked or deleted.... everyones happy!
