Hi everyone,
My name's Simon and im 18 (this is 100% true), and I've just started a new uni course, where I only know 1 guy (well), and 1 girl (a really tiny bit). I'm a guy by the way.
The course is an art course, so needless to say, it's got tons and tons of really cute fit girls on it (dont want to sound like some chauvanist pig here) who are really 'my kinda girls' if you get me.
Basically, I've never had a girlfriend once, never even a girl who was a friend, and I'm sick and tired of it. Everyone else has got a boy/girlfriend, and I swear I'm the only person ever to have not had sex yet.
Anyway, you people on here seem like altogether nice genuine people, so I figure here would be a good place to ask about how to go about getting a girlfriend. I really need the absolute basics here! What can I do? All I want is just one girl to like me (a lot if you get what I mean)!
Please note! I am not some plug ugly gorilla-man, I've just only had friends who have been guys for the last 10 or so years.
So anyway...Thanks everyone!
Simon.
Be confident :bounce: be polite :jagsatwork: be honest biggrin be brave :boxing: be vulnerable  and above all be yourself :P
If there are specific questions you have Simon, you'll find people here pretty non-judgemental and they will have either heard it or done it all before, so feel free to fire away wink
Welcome to the site by the way wave
I think, you have misunderstood the purpose of the site, and should spend some time considering your needs.
You are looking for advice on relationships, and have chosen to do so on a swinging site, where the ability to sustain a mature emotional relationship is very much seen as a pre-requisite.
This is NOT a good place to start if you have never had a girlfriend.

Hi simon and welcome
....what are you doing tomorrow?
I would suggest listening to people is a good starting place to getting to know anyone.
Respect and patience ... taking time to know someone is the best way that I know of to find someone special.
Good luck Simon .. don't be put off too quickly either .. persevere .. gently and politely and you should succeed.

Sorry but I have to agree with Kat...... This is definately not a place to ask about getting a girlfriend... Especially at 18   fgs get yourself to the uni bar or something....

...is fucking good advice!
Hi Simon
You know, getting to know girls is just like getting to know guys. Smile, be friendly, be interested, have conversations. About your course, since that's what you have in common. Then about everything else. Go for a coffee after a lecture, with a group if not on your own. Go for a drink. Be friendly, be interested, be interesting.
Then, girlfriend.... decide which of your new female friends you like. Choose one who's single, and not too scary, and seems to at least like you as a friend as well. Don't be obvious about it. Be a little friendlier to her, a little flirtier. Ask her out for a drink on her own. Keep getting to know each other. Do a sweet, vulnerable 'I think I like you'-stylee confession. Play the innocent card, some girls love that. Be prepared to get knocked back - as long as you're not creepy or stalker-ish about it, at least you've got a new friend.
Don't run around telling everyone you're looking for a girlfriend... make friends with some girls. We're actually very nice people, some of us. And the best things come to those who aren't looking for them. smile
Good luck, honey! Be brave. You'll be fine.
Cocoa x
(who feels like this is really obvious stuff to say. I don't mean to be patronising. You did say you wanted the very, very basics!)
Thanks guys thats all great advice. Nothing is too basic believe me.
Ok one question - what does it mean if a girl always seems too be looking at you when you look at her, yet then seems kinda uninterested otherwise. And what does it mean if a girl always seems to catch you looking at her?
Actually Kit & Shireen, despite what I've said, I see your point... although if I had half the non-judgemental people on here to listen/advise when I was getting my first girlfriends (yes, I've had several way back when wink ) and boyfriends life would have been a hell of a lot easier :P

I don't think this is the site for you. There are lots of books available on relationships and ones like "how to pick up girls" and "The greatest chat up artist", go and read them.
Body language, can't really be taught to be understood..... it comes with experience. Youv'e got to go out there with your fellow students and learn like everyone else I'm afraid.
If she keeps looking at you, it's either because you've done something silly like wear odd socks or left your flies undone, or she fancies you. Simply take the plunge and go and talk to her...
Dammit - guess I am kinda asking in the wrong place. Back out to being on my ass then i guess...

Whether you're in the right place or not, the advice you've got so far is generally good, whether you choose to put any of it into practice is up to you, but I can't think of any better suggestions.

You don't have to go - just don't expect too much on the new g/f front here - it's just not that sort of place. It's still a wheeze around here!

Have you read the answers here? The advice you have received is good, especially from makingcocoa, despite your very odd choice of place to ask for advice.
Go back to the student bar and start socialising - doesn't matter if you make a fool of yourself, just chat with people, guys or girls - you show by your posts here that you can find appropriate words when you need to.
Good luck.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. wink
What have you got to lose if you go and chat to a girl? If you don't hit it off, so what? dunno Go and try talking to another. smile
If you just be yourself you'll soon find girls who like you! :bounce:
No, I don't think this is the right place for you either, but good luck!
turn the computer off before it become's your girlfriend biggrin
Wow ok thanks then everyone...kinda strange to be at the complete other end of the spectrum to all of you

actually, if you want to meet "new" people
ok, you dont seem like the kinda guy that hits the local clubs on a regular basis, fear not, there is a few things you can do for free that will get you TALKING to females (young ones) ive listed my top thrre that ive had "sexual encounters" from. they are totally free, i started "seeing" lassies from each of these (for those not familiar with this, its like goin out, but you can see other people) anyways here they are;
try a car website thats local to you. there are heaps of single girls on there
is a good resource for someone in your positon, ive met a few people off that site, and am stil freinds with them.
msn members directory is ok too, browse it and email the ones you like
yeah i know about these from my younger days, ive realised that relationships are very difficult, and if Mrs. right is out there, she will find me smile
Yeah i dont drink alcohol at all. Whats a guy to do to meet chicks if he doesnt drink?

Go out anyway, stay sober, and have fun - it's certainly one option, and looking at things on a very practical level, no matter how charming your personality, your chances of feminine company in your bed at the end of an evening are significantly increased if you're not too drunk to be useful. smile
