Just because a computer won't start doesn't mean it doesn't work :sad:
When friends and family machines have died Sexyme and I have usually dismantled them, extracted the hard disks, recovered the data, pics, etc. and restored things to their new/replacement computers
Not that we wish to worry you about your 'repair centre'

That bit is easy.
Mind you we've a laptop size hard disk external housing we can slot them into, then they appear on the test box as an external drive, so just scan the drive and then copy contents across to the spare NAS.
Depends on size of the hard disk, but usually done in an hour - quicker if just looking for one folder or picture gallery

There are 3 pc's out of sight in the deep dark corner under the stairs. Really old though some going back to 166 mhz Pentium original :lol: Bet there must be some funny pictures to resurrect. Sadly one does not start up and god knows what state the other two are in.

We've got a thingymajig that we can plug old hard disk drives into.
We can then see the contents of the drive on my PC and copy anything you need off the drive and put it somewhere safe.
It takes about an hour.
Sorry about the techie talk, I'll give him a slap later :grin:
